Join the club Oct 2nd 2002
UMBeconomics@yahoo.comThe UMB Economics club held its first meeting on October 2nd. The next meeting is scheduled for October 16th The Economics Club is a group of UMass/Boston students who share a common interest in economics. Our members include psychology, political science, and management concentrators; you needn't be an economics major to join. We hope that through the club you will meet students and faculty who share your academic interests and with whom you will want to collaborate. We believe that members can help one another succeed academically, and expect the club to facilitate that. We think that the collective knowledge and experience of club members represents a considerable resource that can help us find meaningful positions in the workforce and graduate schools. There are no formal membership requirements. If you're a UMB student, you're eligible to join. We expect you to participate regularly in some capacity, but what you do and when is up to you. Come to our next meeting, or contact us by e-mail if you can't attend. We look forward to meeting you. We thought it important for UMB economists to know what's happening in the department, in the field, and around the campus, and to have a place to exchange ideas and to find other students with interests like yours, so we created a website that we believe reflects our potential. Often you'll discover that our aspirations have outstripped the time available to realize them. In time we'll catch up; sign up for an e-mail update if you want to be notified when the topic you're interested in is updated or completed. If you have a particular interest, volunteer. Work on a committee, write for the website, organize an activity or help someone else with theirs. Make a suggestion if you have one; ask us for ours if you don't. |
