Well, since I have nothing better to do, you get to hear about how I came to find Magic Knight RayEarth... Do you care? (Don't you absolutely
hate it when people do this? I mean, if you didn't care, you wouldn't
be here, right?) Ah, anywho just relax... you're in for a long story.
Ok, so I used to have this THING for Sailormoon, still do, I guess, it's just I don't watch it anymore since the dub is crap. (Yes, this is me excercising the First Amendment... I can say that and not get sued). So anyways, Sailormars has always been my favorite senshi... I dunno, I like her because she's a bitch. (Rock on!) Soooooooo one day, after I had quite thoroughly assaulted, harassed, and concequently exhausted every last Sailormars page on the Yahoo search engine, I decided to be smart and pull up AltaVista, cuz they have everything. So, being the pathetic little dubbie that I was (such innocence!) I looked up "Raye Hino." Well, like I said, AltaVista has everything, so along with a crap-load of Sailormars and Raye/Rei pages, I received a page that said "Magic Knight Rayearth," for all the obvious spelling reasons. And I was like... "Wow! I've never heard her being refered to as that before!" and, thinking I had just discovered a new aspect of Sailormars for myself, I clicked on the link. Well, since you're here and reading this, you obviously know that I did not, in fact, wind up on a Sailormars page.
It was actually a pretty crappy page... don't even know what it was called other than "Magic Knight Rayearth" and don't worry about me hurting the person's feelings... I've looked for it since (to thank them) and it doesn't exist anymore. But that's not the point. I can remember it like it was yesterday (did I mention this happened in about February of 1998?). There was a text description of the series at the top of the page, and then three pictures of the Magic Knights, along with a paragraph, not even any stats, about their personality, etc. next to each picture. That was it. No .html links or anything.
I even remember what pictures they were... you know... the full-body ones where they're posed against a background corresponding with their specific colors, holding up their swords, and looking really pissed? Well anyway, I was then like, "What the hell? This isn't Sailormars! What a rip..." and I was about to exit the page, when the text description at the top of the page caught my eye. I even remember what it said (not exactly, but still...) it said something along the lines of, "Three strangers, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, are summoned to an alternate demension, Cephiro, by a captured Princess..." so on and so forth. Man, I mean to tell you, just those words, "summoned to an alternate demension" made my mind race. By that time I was like, "Yeah! Kick ass!" and that immediately made me want to find out more. And I thank that person, whoever s/he is for making a cute 'lil MKR page with a cool intro.
And that is how I came accross Magic Knight RayEarth, even though it is pretty much inevitable that I would have discovered it one way or another had I stayed involved with the Sailormoon community for any length of time, but oh well. Class is over and you may continue with your lives. To those of you who are sleeping... WAKE UP!
