Karimov promised that wages will go up twice in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek President Islam Karimov has said that the wages will go up twice in 2002. Starting from April there will be pay rises for working people and increases in allowances for pensioners, students and so on. The wages will be increased on 1 April, first, and on 1 July, for the second time. This action is mostly aimed at raising the living standards, which is the main priority for today. While speaking about his recent visit to the US the President said: ""The world's number one most powerful and developed country has lent us a helping hand, saying that it is ready to help us not only with ensuring our security and removing all kinds of threat, but also with building us a democratic state, and to help us be as developed as the world's most advanced countries."
