Is Islam really a peaceful religion?

The word "Islam" means submission to Allah/God, and it is derived from the arabic word for peace. But does that really mean that it teaches peace? Let's examine its teachings to find out...

• "And do not do mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, and invoke Him with fear and hope; Surely, Allâh's Mercy is (ever) near unto the good­doers." [Quran, Surah A'râf 7:56]

In conclusion, do not confuse the actions of Muslims with the religion of Islam. Muslims follow Islam on various levels, just like the followers of any religion. There are extremists and minimalists, those who are obedient and those who are disobedient to their religion. Know Islam by the Words of Allah, The Quran (Koran).
