DOGHOUSE
STORIES
The Doghouse
(formerly known as The Goulburn Arms) is a place well known to the MOOKS.
They generally like the idea of pubs. One needs a
pub or something to get by.

Sabotitage
formed mid 99 as a 3-piece anarchist punk band, lineup completed in About
May. Played first so-called gig at Taroona High School May 19th and had
the power cut on us after 2 songs.(Teachers didn't like them) After many
nights of cider drinking we put a gig on at the doghouse (Goulbourn Arms)
25th of June which was an absolute riot.
Saboitage started as an idea between two vegetarian
anarcho-punx from the sleepy town of Hobart in Tasmania, one disgusting
stinky day at the forest festival surrounded
by bloody hippies in March 1999, over much mud and beer and combat boots
the idea of starting a hardcore punk band seemed a bloody good idea at
the time. Neither of us could really play our instruments that well but
we had the ability to scream for long periods of time until we vomit blood,
which gave us the leading edge to blast onto the scene.
One thing led to another and next thing i know
we are bashing our guitars out of shoddy amplifiers, new songs were being
churned out of our twisted anarchic minds every couple of days.
Sounding like a mixture of UK oi band OI POLLOI
and UK hardcore band DISORDER although we were never aware of it until
told so.
We bashed the s**t out of our instruments and
screaming offensive lyrics of anarchy and rebellion to an otherwise quiet
town of Hobart.
At that point in time we had recruited a somewhat
unsuitable drummer Thomas Graham which lasted for a few shortish rehearsals,
and gothic bass player Isabelle Clark who never amounted to anything. The
lineup was unsuitable and the bass position was filled by Adam Higgins.
Ash Clement-Tyler was recruited on drums and Thomas was given the boot.
We had managed to score a pathetic so-called
gig at our former (and well-hated) school, Taroona High on the 19th with
Hobart College band DEFUNCT SPUNJ and some other crappy Taroona High band,
to take this gig was a complete disgrace as to play for the school that
we despised so much.
The gig was to go on on under a 6-song set of
Do They Owe Us A Living - (Originally by UK anarchist
band Crass)
The End Is Nigh - (originally by UK hardcore
band Chaos U.K.)
Nuclear Dreaming
About Time
F**k Religeon
Cries
20 people turned up to watch their old enemies
play, little were they to know that we were returning with thrashing instruments
and obnoxious vocals. The first two songs got underway with much swearing
and then we were told to get off "because we ran out of time" which is
utter bollocks as we had much time left, anyway we told the staff and students
to f**k off and began to play, and the barstards pulled the plug!
The gig was a laugh, and we returned to our merry
punk ways.
A few cider bottles later we scored a real gig,
at the Goulborn Arms pub on the 25th of June, this was the day we exploded
onto the scene in uncoordinated style. The gig was with hobart punk-folk
band SKREECHTRAMP, after much beer and oi shouting about 50 people showed
up to violently dance and shout OI repeatedly. Yes it was a very punk drunk
and disorderly night. SKREECHTRAMP played for a number of hours before
being shouted off stage, we gave the crowd a 30 minute blast of sheer punk
energy and anarchy in the form of pissed punx with instruments. The gig
was well received.
Disaster struck when Fluph had to go for a holiday
in the sun, however look out for Saboitage as they will be returning in
the Spring to blast you all away.
