The Diamond Throne
Sparhawk, a war-battered Church Knight of the Pandion order, has just returned from 10 years of exile in dusty Rendor. When he arrives in Elenia, he finds his beloved queen, Ehlana, fatally poisoned and encased in a crystal that sustains her life. Sparhawk vows to find an antidote and save his queen.
Sparhawk learns that the crystal that sustains Ehlana's life is done at a heavy cost, and will last but a year. A knight from each of the other orders, Tynian, an Alcione, Ulath, a Genidian, and Bevier, a Cyrinic, join with Sparhawk; his squire, Kurik; his childhood friend and Pandion brother, Kalten; Flute; a young thief named Talen; and Berit, a Pandion novice, to escort Sephrenia, the Pandion instructor of the Styric secrets, to Borrata to find what the poison was and to find a cure.
Unfortunately, the poison has no antidote, and they are told to find a magic talisman and that it will cure her.
Then one night, back in Cimmura in Elenia, Sparhawk finds that the only thing that can cure Ehlana is Bhelliom, which has been lost for centuries...
