| 01-Apr-2005 Only 4 guests stayed with us since tsunami disaster. 01-Mar-2005 Nimal has build a temporary kitchen. 16-Feb-2005 Nimal will start business from 21st February 2005 07-Feb-2005 Nimal is hoping to start business from March 2005. 31-Jan-2005 Land Phone is working now. 94-9-1-2242891 17-Jan-2005 Nimal has started cooking. He is using one room as the kitchen for the moment. He has cleaned the rooms. He is reparing the toilets and bathrooms. All the family members are now staying in Weliwatta. 11-Jan-2005 Electricity Restored. Still the Land Phone does not work. He has managed to repair the electric motor which was used to pump water from the well. He has cleared water in the well several times. Now the well water can be used. He has arraged the store room upstairs to sleep. His big dog has climbed to this store room and escaped. Small puppy is still missing. Still he is cleaning the debris. Some of his friends and relations are assisting. 05-Jan- 2005 Nimal and the family miraculously escaped Tsunami sea waves. At the time Nimal was luckily away from the house. He was driving along Galle road with two guests when the first waves hit his van. He has managed to take the van to a safer place. His house is damaged. His wife was rescued after she was carried away for quite a distance. Children have used summing talents and climbed various trees close bye and escaped. Nimal's elder son has rescued the two foreigners by helping then to climb the roof. Although his family is safe, he has lost most of his furniture and other important items such as 3 fridges, all the cookers and kitchen items (Kitchen has collapsed), TV,computer etc. Still no electricity (5-Jan-2005). Land Phone is not working (5-Jan 2005) Some Tourists are still in Unawatuna helping the people. |
