An elderly couple that loves to visit the great outdoors finally purchase a big brand new camper. They purchase a camper knowing that their age is getting up there and a camper would be easier to manage. This was around the time that "cruise control" was introduced to more expensive vehicles, not really a standard yet. The couple had it put on as an option. They figured that they might as well get everything so they can enjoy their new ride.

On the couples first drive to the lake, 5 hours away, they realize how tiring it can be. The husband figures he might as well tryout his new gadget. He gets up to speed, presses "set", and lets off the wheel. The couple then falls asleep in the back. Sure enough the camper flys off the interstate, rolls several times, and kills both on board.

This legend was said to be true. A family gets a vehicle with cruise control right when it comes out, thinks it will control the vehicle, and crashes. Along with the elderly couple, I have also heard one with foreigners not knowing about today's technologies. Either way, it is a unique legend
