Bloody Mary

To make a long story short, Mary had been raised in Lincoln, Nebraska since her birth in 1871. Living on her farm on the outskirts of the city, all she wished to do was keep the acres and have some crops and sheep. As time passed, prices went up and the teacher needed to give up most of her land. When the 1950's and 60's arrived, three sheep were her only upkeep. Lincoln now was a booming city. Paved roads, electricity, and loud vehicles took over 27th Street, which was nearby.

One day, 90 (plus) year old Mary was awoken by a loud car outside her home. Not knowing who would be at her home at 3 a.m., she slowly gets out of bed. Not having electricity, she could only see the outline of the two men from the street lights outside. Mary grabs her gun and steadys it in front of herself. Suddenly the front window is busted out and soon after a loud gunshot could be heard a mile away.

Never taken to trial, many rumors of the "old killer woman" began. Now known as "Bloody Mary", Mary seemed to have been simply defending her property from robbers. Two months after shooting the man, Mary's goats are shot. Soon after that, people who think she did the shooting in self-defense, came to see how she was; finding her dead, 5 weeks dead!

No one really knows if she was a mean or nice lady. No one knows if she still "resides" at her farm. All I know is, is that I see the story as if the lady wasn't mean, she was simply defending her property and a booming city destroyed her farming way of life.
