After minutes with the books, Buffy decided it was best to split. Angel had offered to come along, but she decided against that, too. Angel has a kid? Everything was different now, well it had been for a long time. But this was the first time she actually felt that it was different. He had other commitments now, and she wasn't one of them. Which was something Buffy would have to except, the only thing was, she couldn't.
"Thought you'd be with your lap dog, by now." Spike's undead body crept up behind the slayer.
Saying nothing, she turned to look at him. He had turned out to be such a good guy, "Why are you doing this again Spike? Don't you care, that we need you on our side?"
"Particularly? No. Its been fun slayer, but I can't sit around being used. Not my style, love." Spike lit a cigarette, blowing the smoke in Buffy's direction.
Buffy rolled her eyes, stepping up to face the demon. "So what, you're just going to go back to trying to kill us, like the old days?"
Spike grinned and evil looking grin, before proceeding to get closer to the slayer. His cold breath trickling down her back. "You would like that, wouldn't you? Have a rough and tumble, once again?" He eyed her up and down, making her body feel hot. With that he began to walk into the darkness.
"You're one of us, once you realize that... you know where I'll be." With that he winked, leaving no sign in the shadows he disappeared into.
Buffy sighed, gaining recomposure. Spike, there was someone she never thought she'd miss. Still he grows on you, and she had taken all of his help for granted. Now he was gone, maybe he was right. She never understood her part in this world, fighting darkness makes you a part of it.
Buffy walked along the cemetery, the same worn path she walked every night. Fighting, winning some, losing some. It was all part of the game, her game that is.
Buffy closed her eyes, listening to rustle in the trees, windy nights like tonight were the reason she loved it here. While taking in her surroundings, Buffy didn't hear the man behind her.
"Ahh!" Buffy grunted as she was thrown to the ground. "The slayer."
"No that my intro is over, why don't you tell me who you are? Oh wait, let me guess... you came to Sunnydale hoping to destroy the world?" Buffy's sarcasm, did nothing to the man.
"Angelus." Was the only word hr spoke, before darting at her with his sword.
Quickly dodging the sharp blade, she spun to kick the man. He fell backwards slightly, only to return with a blow to Buffy's face. Blood streamed down her face, "That wasn't a good move." She gritted through her teeth.
Buffy jumped kicking the man in the face. He screamed in pain, feeling his neck snap.
"And what's with the outfit?" Buffy joked grimly, walking away from the man, who now lay on the ground still.
"It's an original." Buffy turned to look at the supposedly 'dead' man. Who apparently wasn't so dead, considering he was headed straight for the slayer, not even breaking a sweat.
"So you're not the give up easy type huh?" Buffy worriedly glanced at the man. She took the man down, with a huge blow, knocking his sword to the ground. Stumbling for it, the man crawled over to it, in the process of picking it up Buffy punched him. Which caused him to delay long enough for her to swipe the sword.
"Let's see you dodge this!" Buffy stabbed the man in his chest, closing his eyes he grunted. His hands found the wound, pulling the sword free and smiling.
Buffy's eyes widened. "Ok, then. Next." With that Buffy took off running. She ran straight into Spike.
"Hey what's the rush?" Spike looked at the slayer who had fumbled from running into him. She looked back, seeing the man catching up. Spike's eyes followed her's, getting just as wide.
"Holtz?" Spike's eyes stared in shock at the man.
"William." The man's voice was low and dark, when speaking the vamp's name.
"We gotta jet, love." With that Spike grabbed the arm of the slayer and began running, just as she had done.
::
"Think we lost him?" Buffy's voice whispered to Spike, who was standing right next to her.
"I think so." Spike kept his voice low, just in case.
Buffy trudged through the slimy sewer, alongside her former good friend. Her shoes had been soaked hours ago, it took them awhile to get rid of the old man.
"So who is this Holtz?" Buffy looked up at the blonde man next to her.
"Holtz was the most infamous vampire hunter in Europe. The funny thing is, that was back in the 1700's. He was human..."
"So the question is, why is he still alive?" Buffy finished their confusion.
"Let's go find your Scooby gang." Spike rolled his eyes, ignoring the fact he was actually excited to see everyone, they had all become a part of his life... especially the little bit.
"I can go alone, I know you don't want to come. Remember bad vamp style?" Buffy's voice was sarcastic, trying to cover up her true wishes.
"I'd better go, just in case Holtz finds you. You'll need all the help you can get." Spike's voice stayed level, showing no emotion.

When Buffy and Spike entered, everyone was already in full study mode. Everyone looked up in horror, suddenly Buffy noticed why. Her clothes were torn, dirt on her face and blood on her face. Angel ran up to her.
"Buffy, are you ok?" His eyes held so much concern, it hurt her.
She looked down at the ground, "I'm fine. Thanks to Spike." Buffy glanced over to Spike, who was resisting the urge to grabbed her right there.
Angel looked over at his childe uncomfortably, he could sense the attraction. "Oh. Good." Angel fought the urge to scream in rage.
"So no more visions so far." Cordy filled the two in, walking up to them, with a new understanding in her eyes.
"I got a vision for you, bloody Holtz." Spike's eyes when directly to Angel's, both sets with anger and confusion.
"Holtz? But how?" Angel asked his childe.
"Wait, Holtz? You mean that guy..." Cordy's eyes widened, remembering Angel's stories. "As in vampire hunter, Angel's mortal enemy?" Worry filled her eyes and her stomach.
"The very one." Spike's grim smile told everyone it was bad. Spike only did that when he didn't know what to do.
"How does he?" Cordy pointed to Spike.
"After Dru turned Spike, Holtz found us. We made his life a living hell, killing everyone he knew and cared about." Angel's head hung in shame. Spike could just smile, he breathed in the air.
"Those were the days." Spike smiled remembering, Buffy only rolled her eyes.
"I can't tell you how much I love this little story time, but we have an immortal man to stop. If we don't you and Angel are in big trouble." She turned toward Spike, hoping he would get the picture.
"Right then. Where's a book?"
