Blues

In it’s light the valley glows,
The clouds that come about
Are white and my footsteps
Are shadowed below.
The green ground breathes lightly
As the yellow gold flows,
Touching the window lightly
And puts my thoughts in growth,
I’m fine with this shade of color,
It’s in the river I’ve come to know,
The one that touches the horizon,
And if it decides to go on now,
I’m bound to follow.
It’s where the laughter comes,
And the lips stretch the most.

In it’s dark I’m found in the low,
And the night showers,
Floods come and go
Dragging away the laughter,
The complacency sewn.
The water empties
And slides down the eyes.
I try to run back to the valley,
But my strength has been towed,
So I try to walk swiftly,
My hearts been hard to hold
To keep it from falling.
I’m on the ocean sailing,
On the deepest shade of this color,
Where songs are written,
But their tears have sunk the boat.
But in time this shade will fade,
And my heart will have grown to be bold.
