Day Dream
The sky’s her blue river rooftop
Opening the door to dreams
Of a world that’s placid and clear
Where the water twinkles in the ripples
And has her breath held along the awakening beach,
Because the air is smooth
And tastes sweet along the teeth.
There the sun says “how do you do”
And fights the clouds against his heat.
The albatross circles and sings to her
Of the oceans deepest secretes
While horizon releases a breeze
Down upon her and on this scenery she sees.
Water crashes on rock and carves
The face of what this edge will be,
A woman out of shackles,
Her feet released to walk the earth free.
It’s the world she waits to reach,
A world she hopes will soon be placed beneath her feet.
