Distance Man
Nothing has been clear to me,
Your writing is a blur
And my eyes can’t see.
What have you been telling me?
Your words have been so hard to breath.
You’ve always been too hard to reach,
A distant boat out on the sea,
And you echo down on a breeze
A whisper that I cannot read.
I need my glasses To run my eyes around you
Because you’re fogged up,
And you become a vague little dream,
A fantasy that I may not achieve,
An island that’s too far from me.
You’re the book that no one
will ever teach.
Do you hear the things I say to you?
Are you cold or are you moved?
Am I single or am I two?
You fade out when I seek the proof.
If you stay still you may just loose
The very thing you’d say you’d chose,
The thing that’s stayed and is in love with you.
