Structure
Eyes kneel and
Climb upwards in awe
Along the cold giant
Of carefully constructed steel
Joints and bones twinkling glass
Made to shelter and protect
And do business.
But eyes forget the diamond
Between two branches in the woods
Built by eight legs and
Held together by beams and bars of silk,
(Each line constructed with time and care)
Vulnerable and powerful,
Catching light and menacing
To all who are small
That stumble upon it.
