We Do Fear

We like to hide away
Because we’re afraid of the coming rain,
Inevitable clouds that drown the day.
Afraid of the scary things that lurk beyond the dark,
The shadows that will break apart the walls of the heart.
And of the traffic that runs inside our minds,
Doubts that wrap you up and are always unkind.
When our heels jump up over our heads
And at that point love awakes
And fate takes hold on decisions made,
The lines before us blur and fade.
We hold on just in case
We’re floating down a river
Towards a big mistake,
Rapids down a waterfall none can ever blame.
