Wolverine
Lonely friend of mine,
I see what you need to find
In those clever little eyes,
You’re nothing like
Your brother weasel,
A thief in fur disguised.
On the move again
To find yourself
Another place,
Scent be your guide.
You blush so easy
Yet I’ve seen you
Win so many fights.
Mighty conqueror
Of the caribou
And killer of the bear,
Feast only what you need.
Little hunter
I see you speed through
Atop the snow.
There you go
On those snowshoes,
Walk easiest on the ice, I know.
But I’ve seen you stumble
And hit the floor,
Spill your wine
And walk into a door.
I leave you
In your arctic games,
Don’t fill up on the ego
From that reputation gained.
I know you’ll do your job,
Resourceful as you walk along,
Still be fearless when I’m gone.
