Daddy's Little Girl

My Lord and my Savior
How do I ever express with mere words
what is on my heart?
How do I describe the gentleness
and tenderness of Your heart towards me?

How do I draw a verbal picture
of a little girl sitting at her Daddy's feet,
looking up into His beautiful face
and for the first time in her life,
seeing love and approval?

Trying to describe all of these things
is like trying to describe the opening of
the petals of a flower to someone who is blind
and has never seen a flower.
It's like trying to describe the sound of birds singing
to someone who is deaf
and has never heard a bird.

To say that Your love is as high as the highest mountain
and as deep as the deepest sea,
can't begin to describe the height and the depth
of Your love.

How is it that I've become a little girl again
crying at night because she doesn't want to leave her Daddy
to even go to bed?
And how do I explain the tears that come
as I touch Your heart and am touched also?

And in my inability to describe Your perfect love,
I find it equally difficult to describe my love
for You.

I never knew it was possible to feel a love
this strong and this powerful
A love that reduces me to tears just
to think about it.

I just want to stay in Your presence,
not seeking Your hand
but seeking Your face
and Your heart.

Lord, I want to know Your heart,
the place where all Your goodness
and all Your love resides.

Change me Father so that I might come to know Your heart
and put a new heart in me,
one that will forever be in one accord with Yours.

Father, I love You more than I can ever say
and I am so very grateful for Your unconditional love.
I will forever and for all eternity sing Your praises.
And Daddy, as much as it breaks my heart
to leave Your presence,
I must go to bed.

But, I will see You again bright and early
in the morning,
and tell You again how very much I love You.

Be blessed Daddy and hold my love in Your heart
as I sleep tonight.
And let my dreams be dreams of You,
with me once again sitting at Your feet
and looking up into Your beautiful face.
