Drugs Took Another Life

She wrinkles her nose
She can’t feel her toes
What is there left to live for?
Her stringy dead hair falls in her face
She tokes some weed that had been
laced
She scratches her arms until they bleed
Her heroine addiction has caught up
with her now

Father forgive me
I’m sorry I turned from you
I thought I could hide myself in drugs
But still you saw right through

She passed out on the broken glass
carpet
And sheers sliced through her clothes
and flesh
She did have more to live for
She did have more to offer
If only she hadn’t hidden in her own
world
She could have been more of a woman
Instead of just a girl

A single tear runs down her bloody
cheek
She cries out in repentance
With her last breath of life
No more misery
No more anguish

She felt she had played her role in the
world
And decided she was finished
She lost her love once
She wouldn’t try again
Now she couldn’t
She wasn’t fit to
Drugs had destroyed her beautiful life
Her beautiful mind
And beautiful body
And as they placed her broken body
Into the black bag
You could see the small twinkle in her
eye
Slowly fade away
