Chinese, Oriental & Thai

Charlie's Chinese Restaurant
Apparently busy right throughout the day, this buffet restaurant has a big reputation in the Toon, and deservedly so. It's eat as much as you can, there's a great choice of chicken, beef and pork main dishes as well as other tasty sides, and you won't be able to walk for a couple of hours if you make the most of the 40+ dishes on offer here.

Dragon House
This is one of the more esteemed of Stowell Street's numerous restaurants which specialize in oriental banquets of belly rupturing proportions. Expect to leave with the feeling that you've done yourself a mischief when in fact you've just sampled some of the finest Cantonese cuisine this side of the Great Wall.
The Drogon House is open Mon-Sun 12pm-2pm and 6pm-12am

Foody Goody
All-you-can-eat warehouse. The food is good but the staff, though polite and efficient, do tend to make you feel like you're on a conveyor-belly. Ideal if you're in a rush, too, but not if you fancy a long leisurely meal.
All you can eat Mon-Fri 11.45am-5pm, 5pm-10.30pm.

Fujiyama Japanese Restaurant
Recently relocated, this Japanese restaurant has retained its excellent food and attentive service . Mostly concentrating on Tappanyaki cuisine, it is a touch pricey but more than worth it.

Hamahama
Though a cheaper option than its upper class neighbour Fujiyama, Humahama is nevertheless a great place for an Oriental feast. This is recommended for parties both large and small.

Kublai Khan
Offering the only Chinese-Mongolian buffet in town, Kubai Khan is almost worth a visit even if you loathe Oriental cuisine. Think 'The Crystal Maze' as you undertake the rigorous procedure for getting hot food to your table. Somewhere around the point when coloured counters become involved it's easy to become very confused, but it's great fun and the food is tasty and filling.
Open Mon-Sun 6pm-11pm

Lau's Buffet King

According to the rather iron handed message displayed as you enter Lau's (Newcastle's biggest Chinese Buffet restaurant), all persons crossing the threshold are charged for the buffet whether they are eating or not, so be sure you're hungry. Prices are most flexible however, varying with time of day.
