California's child lost Its black there where they creep with shallow rooms and bare feet. Sneaking, Seeking, Snatched They took her in the dark of night, Just walked away out of sight. Their faces held smiles of disgusting delight. The child shivers and shakes with fright. This place, it seems to somehow shrink, The walls inch closer, cant you see? Holding back the first of her tears for fear of what they just might hear. Her tethered clothing hangs, now loose She fights to take in one more breath Praying that this night will bring a peaceful death. She seems to be fading, look it's the light. And to think this once was a child filled with life. Jessica This poem was inspired by the brave 5-year-old girl who was murdered in Cali - may she rest in peace - |
