the Stinger Snack Shop / Subway

The Stinger Snack Shop was located behind the glass block wall on the second story of the UC. It had been designed into the building at its construction in 1993. It had a grill where students could purchase hamburgers and other food after the cafeteria had closed for the evening. Both fountain and bottled drinks were availible. Studetns ate on tables outside the snack shop or in the adjacent TV room.

Unfortunately, the snack shop was not profitable. It was removed and its equipment was stored. A Subway took its place in the 1996-1997 academic year, complete with a neon sign. This Subway had limited seating inside. The previous tables served as overslow capacity. Although popular at first, the Subway did not succeed either (probably due to the fact that Brownwood already had two).

When the UC was remodled in 1997, the Snack Shop equipment was returned to service in the new Fambrough's Grill. Supposedly, some equipment from the former coffee house, Mr Anthony's Holy Grounds was also incorporated into Fambrough's. part of the Snack Shop space was used by Fambrough's and part has served various purposes.
