Improbable Plaza:
The little garden in front of Phelps Bible Building.

When Fleming (Part of the current Davidson Music Complex, formerly the Bible Building) was renovated, a cement decorative feature was removed from the facing and placed in the garden in front of Phelps Bible Building.

The cement slab features a torch surrounded by branches. This symbol is the logo of the Disciples of Christ denomination. The building was originally a church of that denomination before becoming: a Methodist church, the HPU Bible building, the music building, and finally, part of the Davidson Music Complex.

The fact that a Baptist University proudly displays the symbol of another denomination in front of its Bible building is improbable.

Thus the name.
