Command Structure
The command structure will be altered slightly from last year. There will still be the triumvirate, but it will relate a little differently to the rest of the group. There will be the same squad-company-triumvirate system. We will not start out with two companies, but when and if we get enough people the chain of command will look something like this.
This is the chain of command used while in missions, the rest of the time the company commanders will report to the triumvirate, information officer with things regarding information, training officer with things pertaining to training, etc.
Squad command structure
In the past we have used a 2nd or 1st Lt. as the Squad XO and a Captain as the Squad CO. I’m planning on changing it to the Squad Leader (instead of Squad CO) being anything from a 2nd Lt. to a Captain, and a Sergeant to Sergeant First Class (E5-7) as a Squad XO, and changing the name to Squad Sergeant. The Squad Sergeant will be responsible for keeping up the training of the squad once newbies complete basic training.
Company command structure
A Major or Lt. Colonel will be a Company Commander. He will have a Company Sergeant to assist him. The next person in the chain of command will be the senior most Squad Leader. The Company Sergeant will be an E-7 or E-8, and will be in charge of personnel decisions. He will determine who goes in what squad, and can transfer an enlisted person from one squad to another with the approval of the Company Commander. The Company Sergeant will report directly to the Company CO.
Unit command structure
While playing, the two members of the triumvirate who are not acting as the Field Commander will have no permanent position, it will be determined with each mission. Those two may act as squad members, Squad Leaders, etc. There will be a Unit Sergeant (E-9, second rank) who reports directly to the Triumvirate outside of missions, and the Field Commander during missions. He will be in charge of personnel for officers and Squad Sergeants, he will also assign enlisted personnel to a company, and can transfer an enlisted person from one company to another. Since he is for the most part outside of the chain of command, he will be in charge of gathering information in the case of misconduct. He will be part of the headquarters squad.
Triumvirate
The Triumvirate consists of the three highest ranked officers. If possible, they should all be Colonels. The Information Officer, Training Officer, Promotions Officer, and Field Commander should all be Triumvirate members. The Spec Ops Commander should be a Triumvirate member if possible. Outside of missions, the Triumvirate members are equal to each other, even if they are not all Colonels. On occasion, the next two highest officers may be brought in for an Extended Triumvirate for big or difficult decisions.
Implementation
This system is of course dependent on a large number of people playing. With smaller numbers of people, there will be only one squad. When the numbers warrant two squads, a Company Commander will be chosen. At three, a new company will be created.
Until there are enough officers to have three Colonels, the three senior most officers will form the Triumvirate. They will have equal authority outside of games, in missions, their authority will be based on rank.
