The statue was placed in what had previously been parking behind Jennings Hall.

Why that location was chosen

Alternate sites were suggested before it was too late. However, these were ignored.

Some of the possible alternate sites suggested:

The mall to the west of Jennings next to the sidewalk connecting it to the UC.
Between Jennings and Veda on what used to be Center Ave.
Somewhere else on what used to be Center Ave. (the Wilson Walk)
Near the Belltowers, perhaps in front of the center one.
In front of Phelps Bible Building
On the Academy campus
