The fraternity that I was in at HPU had a saying: "Bros before hos." This saying was typically uttered when a member was late to a meeting because of his girlfriend.

I always hated that saying and thought it rather hypocritical of the members, who claimed to be upstanding citizens.

Fortunately, that comment was never directed at me or there might have been violence. The implication that my girl was a whore woild have made me (at least try to) bash someone's face. Of course, I would have been killed, but that's beside the point.

The hypocrisy of this statement and its underlying attitude in part led to the formulation of the doctrine of the
inherent corruption of frats.
