Kakapo was built by A. Stephen & Sons Ltd., Linthouse, Glasgow. Built as a replacement for the Kanna for operation on the N.Z. coast. Subsequently traded on the Australian coast. Sold to Panamanian interests in 1960. Transferred to Teh Hu Steamship Co.Ltd. Hong kong in 1964 and renamed 'Teh Ping' (Taiwan) Traded until 1970. Sailed from Hong kong to Keelung on 21 October 1970 where ship subsequently broken up in Taiwan in 1970. |
