Koonya was built by Henry Robb Ltd., Leith in 1957. Koonya was sister ship to Kumalla. Koonya was designed to carry ore, coal and general cargo between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. Sold to Guan Guan Shipping, Singapore in 1971 and renamed 'King Star'. 1975 ownership registered to King Line Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Vessel sold on 21 January 1985 to National Shipbreakers Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Vessel broken up at Jurong.
