Seaway Melbourne was built as Union Lyttleton by Framnaes Mek.Vaerksted, Sandefjord for Lulworth & Co. Ltd. Hamilton for time charter to Union Company New Zealand. In 1983 renamed Seaway Melbourne and transferred to Australian coastal trade. Ownership registered to Union Steam Ship Co. of Australia Pty. Ltd. 1989-1990. Transferred to Union Shipping Australia Pty. Ltd. Melbourne 1990-1992. Laid up at Melbourne 17 April 1992. Sold to Fast Trader Company, Valetta, 1992 and renamed Seaway (Malta) 1992. Sold Demline Egypt for Maritime Transport, Alexandria 1992 and renamed 'Fast Trader' (Malta) 1992-1993 (Egypt) 1993 trading in Mediterranean.
