Tofua

Tofua was built by William Denny and Brothers Dumbarton in 1951. Tofua traded on the pacific Island run with accommodation for 78 cabin passengers and 200 deck passengers. Tofua visited such ports as Auckland, Lautoka, Suva, Nukualofa, Vavau, Nuie Island, Pago Pago, Apia, Suva, Lautoka and back to Auckland. The vessel used to depart Auckland on a Tuesday, the voyage round the islands took ten days the vessel arriving back in Auckland on a Sunday. She carried Meat and general cargo North bound and Bananas, copra etc. South bound. The vessel was sold to Khymer Shipping Company SA, Panama in 1973 and renamed 'Tack Tai'. Subsequqntly sold to Chinese shipbreakers on the 19 July 1975 and broken up at Shanghai.
