Biography of Pedro D'Aquino





Pedro d'Aquino has been Music Director of Union Temple of Brooklyn since 1992. Before that he held a similar position at the Nassau Community Temple in West Hempstead, Long Island. Mr. d'Aquino is an organist, pianist, singer (baritone), conductor, and composer. He is frequently engaged as an accompanist/vocal coach by the School of Sacred Music of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City, and does a great deal of work in the New York area as a free-lance musician as well. He has performed at other distinguished Jewish institutions including Temple Emanu-El, the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, and the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue (Congregation Shearith Israel).

His choral and instrumental works have been premiered by One World Symphony and the Choir of St. Luke's. He holds a concurrent position as Cantor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Times Square, and directs St. Luke's Kantorei. Current projects include the formation of a professional chamber ensemble and the transcription and editing of French Baroque music for performance, recording, and publication.

Mr. d'Aquino is married to Kirsten Seadale d'Aquino who is also a fine organist. The d'Aquino's live in Brooklyn with their four sons: Eduardo, Antonio, Marcus, and Alexander.
