THE BEATLES - Revolver - Digital Remastered version

Released in 1966, this is a stunning album, I cant say much about it as I'm no expert and wasn't around at the time. From what I can deduce and have been told, it arrived to mixed reactions. While some tracks sound similar to their early material , 2 of them are the most way out I have heard...
Starting off with a savage attack on the financial system, TAXMAN is quite harsh, and will upset these people who think the Beatles are all about "please please me" and Mop top hair cuts. Its lyrics are pretty angry. This is followed by a classic ELANOR RIGBY which if your a beginer, I will explain was where Paul Mac Cartney declared he wanted to be a serious song writer. This very moody, orchestral ballad is quite sad, and featured a full orchestra. It opened the film Yellow submarine. I'M ONLY SLEEPING is just that, a brilliant, hazy, laid back track, Love you too is a George Harrison track very similar to "WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU from Sgt Pepper. This is followed by HERE THERE, AND EVERYWHERE, another brilliant ballad. If you don't know YELLOW SUBMARINE, you dont know the Beatles, and while its cheesy and daft, we do get too hear Ringo on vocals. SHE SAID SHE SAID is another really weird one, which opens "she said, I know whats its like to be dead" - the sort us bohemians love! Onto side 2, GOOD DAY  SUN SHINE is another daft track, while AND YOUR GIRL CAN SING has a touch of their earlier styles to it. Mac Cartney has yet another Ballad with FOR NO ONE while DR ROBERT is a good rocker. I WANT TO TELL YOU hints the experiments to come, and GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE is very wacky.

Then theres the experiance. TOMMOROW NEVER KNOWS. What an absolutely amazing work of art. The rights to this should be sealed in concrete and placed on the moon to prevent some cretin messing it about*. A sitar opens this absolute barrage of physcadelic disortion, and from what I have read they recorded instruments in reverse order, then played the tapes back - giving a very jerky weird result! A warning, if you are under the effects of anything, your head will explode if you listen to this.

Overall, Revolver is a must have for anybody interested in unusual music. Its not for idiots. Its not for everyones taste, and if your contemplating getting it I recomend you hear it first. Personally I'm glad I got mine on vinyl for £15.00, its worth every penny. Its odd how John Lennon seemed to have such little on here, as he only sang on 5 tracks out of 14.  I'm getting let it be in a few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.
