On the 27th day of December 2000 I was looking for some inspiring words to get me through this day and I found them in your work. I look forward to reading you book." A. Emery "Dear Mr. Hood, We are two High School students in Rosemont, Pa. and we just read your poem U.S.S. Henrietta Marie, and we loved it." Sincerely, G. Cnaan and C. Chung "Dear Mr. Hood My name is J. Hartlove, I'm doing a school project on African American Authors. I have to memorize a poem from an African American Author and perform it for the class…. Can you tell me if I can use one of your poems for Kwanza?" "Dear Mr. Hood, I just had to write and send my congrats, you deserved to be chosen as poet of the month on TimBookTu. I loved your poetry so much, all of it. 'Love, Undying' reminded me of my father that I just lost in June. I loved, 'I saw it filled with Roses & Butterflies', but my favorite was the 'USS. Henrietta Marie' that was the bomb, it was so moving." With much respect Ava Kenney ESSAYS: *What people have said about, The Mountain Before Us* "Mr. Hood... I was perusing the Timbooktu site, and I through happenstance began reading your essay entitled, "The Mountain Before Us." I must admit that I was quite intrigued- your mastery of the English language engrossed with the inspiration perpetuated your essay into the realm of 'wholesome' reading... I found myself soon pulling up your 'biography' just to view a list of your other writings-and I was utterly surprised to see that you too are a member of one of the greatest states in America- North Carolina. Eternally Yours for the Sake of Human Expression." Mr. J. S. Buie "Hi, I was scrolling through the poetry pages on Timbooktu and read an essay that you had written. I was truly impressed at how you express your feelings in "The Mountain Before Us". S. Jordan, II Editor of "Outstretch" Newsletter "Mr. Hood, I have just finished reading your work that is on the TimBookTu web site and found it very interesting. I live in Louisville, Kentucky and hope to soon lecture at a local high school. I am currently looking for material outside of my own work to bring to the lecture with me and your essay is a wonderful piece. Sincerely," M. Bahm "Rickey I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your essay at TimBookTu ("The Mountain Before Us"). You touched on some truths that I've come to realize myself, and I'm glad you took the time to air your concerns for others to see. Keep up the good work." M.
