To provide a Reenactment Society that is operated by the Members, for the Members. Dedicated to creating an environment whose priority is keeping this Hobby FUN, Safe and Family Oriented.
1.0 GOVERNING BODIES: The UEMA's Governing bodies are broken into 2 councils, (or Senates). The Royal Council, and the Commoner's Council. All laws, policies, rules will be voted on by the councils with a majority Rule enforced. Council is to be seated by-monthly, unless a special vote meeting is called.
1.0A ROYAL COUNCIL: 1 seat per Kingdom/Empire. Seat is controlled by the Ruler 1 of each Kingdom/Empire.
1.0B COMMONER'S COUNCIL: 1 seat per Kingdom/Empire. Seat is controlled by 1 untitled or uncrowned member of the populace. Council member will be voted in by the vote of their peers, as the voice of the common person. The term of their seat is to be 1 year unless removed for punitive reasons. It is recommended that each council member meet with their peers at least 2 weeks prior to the Council is to meet to list issues. The Seated Commoner's Council should meet at least 1 week prior to review what they are to speak on.
1.1 ZERO TOLERANCE: The use, possession, distribution of illegal drugs and or paraphenalia is strictly prohibited at any sanctioned UEMA Society event. Violation of this will result in immediate dismissal from the UEMA and possible Criminal Charges.
1.2 CODE OF CHIVALRY: The Code of Chivalry will be strictly enforced by all members at any and all Society sanctioned events, and recommended to be included into our member's Mundane Lives.
1.3 KNIGHTLY ORDERS: Each Empire/Kingdom has the authority to form and operate their own Knightly Order at the discretion of the Ruler 1 of that Territory. The UEMA has set forth these Basic requirements for any Knight. Ruler 1 will use these requirements as a guideline, and may add to them at there choice, but may NOT subtract from them.
1.3A: Be a proven fighter, proficient in combat and or tournaments.
1.3B: Be an example of Knighthood by abiding by the Code of Chivalry.
1.3C: Knights will be willing to take on and train Pages and Squires.
1.3D: Each Knightly Order must have 1 Knight in charge of the Order.
1.3E: Each Ruler 1 may "Freehand" knight 3 members per every 18 months.
1.4 COMBAT: Combat will be in accordance with the UEMA Marshall's Guide.
1.5 RULE OF INDIVIDUAL EMPIRE/KINGDOM: Each Empire/Kingdom will have their own set of By-Laws. Each Kingdom/Empire will be ruled in accordance to its own By-Laws, in accordance with the UEMA Society By-Laws. Each Ruler 1 will submit a copy of their By-Laws, and any amendments to be included as part of the UEMA's Main Guide. All Empire/Kingdom By-Laws, and Proclomation of Knightly Orders will be reviewed by the Senate Councils for approval.
1.6 RULER 1 LENGTH OF SERVICE: Ruler 1 of a Kingdom/Empire shall reign until he/she chooses to step down, or is voted out by council due to Serious Violations of Society By-Laws, improper use of Power and/or ineffective Rule. Any Ruler 1 who voluntarily steps down, and has served for at least 2 years under Honorable terms, shall be given the Title/Crown of Viscount/Viscountess for life, unless accepting another crown within a Kingdom/Empire, or returning as Ruler 1. The Successor of Ruler 1 shall be nominated by remaining Crowns in that Kingdom/Empire, and voted in by a seated Council.
1.6A: KINGDOM/EMPIRE CROWNS: Appointment of Titles/Crowns and length of service is at the descretion of Ruler 1 of each Empire/Kingdom.
1.7 MEMBERSHIP FEES: The United Empires of the Middle Ages imposes a ONE-TIME $10.00 Membership fee. This is to help offset the cost of publishing and distributing the Society Main Guide. A fee of $25.00 will apply to members joining with family, per family.
1.7A Ruler 1 of each Kingdon/Empire may impose their own fees for their respective territories not to exceed $25.00 a year. If an Empire/Kingdom does elect to collect memberhip fees, a 10% tax is to be submitted to the UEMA's coffers.
1.8 MEMBERSHIP IN OTHER SOCIETIES: There are NO restrictions against members of the UEMA belonging to one or more Societies, so long as member(s) keep seperate their involvement in each society.
1.9 TRANSFER OF TITLES: Members may transfer earned and held titles of Peerage from other societies to the UEMA, provided they submit sufficient documentation to the Senate Councils.
2.0 EXPEDITIONARY CHARTER: If a Kingdom/Empire recruits members to the UEMA who are in a currently Unchartered Territory, that Empire/Kingdom may claim and issue an Expeditionary Charter. This states that the issuing Kingdon/Empire claims that new territory as part of it's own. This new territory will fly the Banner of that Kingdom/Empire. This will remain so until such time that this new territory decides to set up it's own Kingdom/Empire, or another territory wishes to stake claim. At which point the Principal Kingdom/Empire may choose to relinquish control, or Defend their rights to that territory by virtue of a Border War/Conquest.
2.1 SETTING UP A NEW CHARTER: If a new member joins the UEMA from an unchartered Territory, and no Kingdom/Empire has issued an Expeditionary Charter, that member may at that time file a Kingdom/Empire Charter with the Senate Council.
3.0 SOCIETY OFFICES: The listed offices are Society held office that are needed to ensure the Society runs efficiently. These offices come with a great deal of Responsibility. The holders of these offices will be nominated by our members and voted into office by a Seated Council Senate. Members wishing to be nominated for these offices, should be willing to fulfill these duties to the upmost of their abilities, and expected to mmaintain teir office for the Full Term.
3.1 GRAND MARSHALL OF THE EMPIRES: Responsible for OVerseeing the Marshall's Council, and enforcing all Marshall's Rules and Laws. During Empire Wide Events, and at Kingdom/Empire Events Whenever available, will be Head Judge at all Combat and Tournament fights. Currently this Office is of Perpetual Term.
3.2 HEARLD OF THE EMPIRES: Responsible for keeping in order all Coat of Arms. Empire Herald will coordinate with each Empire/Kingdom Herald to submit and approve all individual and Empire/Kingdom Crown COA's. This office is a one year term, and can be held consecutively.
3.3 MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR/WEBMASTER/MISTRESS of the EMPIRES: Responsible for maintaining the Empire's Web Site, and maintaining the membership database. Upon receiving prospective membership information, he/she will document the information and forward the information to the respective Empire/Kingdom. Term of office is one year, and can be held consecutively.
3.4 SENATE MODERATOR: Responsible for the moderation of all Senate Council Meetings. Moderator will document and post the minutes of the meetings to the members of the United Empires of the Middle Ages. term of office is one year, and can be held consecutively.
