This dear sweet beautiful woman is my father's mother. My Meme (French for Grandma), Maryann. Unfortunately she passed away many years ago when I was just a little girl. It's been over 20 years now and I still remember like it was yesterday. I remember her, the house, the fun, the love and also the funeral. Everything about her is still so vivid. I find I still to this day shed a tear or more when I think of her as I'm doing now while writing this and looking at her picture. She was one of the most beloved people in my life and I wish my children had been given the chance to know her and she them. I still talk to her when I need a friend, she's my guiding angel and I know she's looking down on me and smiling.

This is my favoruite picture of her. It shows her true self. How I mostly saw her -- when I wasn't doing something wrong and she was giving me the evil eye..lol -- so full of life and always so happy. Although she had some health problems and a heart condition, her death was sudden and unexpected. She died from a stomach annurism that bursted and was gone before the doctors even got to her. My father was diagnosed with the exact same thing not 3 months ago. He underwent major surgery to avoid the possibility of the annurism rupturing and I'm happy to say pulled through just fine. It's obvious that this is genetic (a great uncle of mine - her brother - died of a brain annurism) and so the other siblings have been tested recently as well.

I will be doing a page dedicated to her very soon. I can't tell you or explain how close I still feel to this lady even though I didn't really have many years to get to know her. There were a couple of songs that she used to sing to me all the time. I taped one of them when I was around 7 years old on my brand new tape recorder I received for xmas that day. I still have it and as soon as I can figure out how to get it on here I will. It's a beautiful piece of my history that I will always cherish along with all my memories of her. My Meme.
