Article 14 as adopted 3/16/02:
Article 14. To
see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $495,587 for the
construction of a new town office facility by renovating the Chase’s Tavern
building, constructing a new wing attached to it, and constructing a new police
department garage adjoining it.
This facility will house the
town offices, police department, Unity Free Library, and Unity Historical
Society.
The amount
appropriated for this project will be raised in the following manner: $207,870
will be withdrawn from the capital reserve fund created for the construction of
a new town office building; $257,725 will be
from a matching grant from LCHIP (New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment
Program); $19,500 will come from funds raised and contributed by the Unity
Historical Society and from other amounts contributed for this project; and the
balance of $10,492 will come from general taxation.
The Selectmen
are directed to proceed immediately with this project and are authorized to
grant an appropriate term historic preservation easement to LCHIP (New
Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program), for the purpose of
preserving and maintaining the historic character of Chase’s Tavern.
