Truly an L.A. original who has been
supporting it's drum and bass scene since before they had one. He
started spinning hip-hop back in 1989 then expanded to the hardcore breakbeat
sound coming out of London around 1992. Since then he has been droppin'
beats ranging from hip-hop to the most up-front drum and bass around.
He's mastered all styles of jungle from the hip-hop, regga feel to the
dark, jazzy, technical side of the sound. Of course smoothing it
out e very now and then with the more mellow, atmospheric styles.
He truly loves the sound in all forms and accepts it for what it is...
MUSIC! He has produced numerous tracks as well as remixes that are
available on his label "Tonz of Drumz Recordings" as well as "Mictlan
Recordings" and "Herbn Records". |
Plans in the future include more collaboration
with hip-hop, R&B, and Raggae artists to produce original tracks equipped
with it's own drum and bass remix such as the material he has worked on
with "The Abyssmen" (an independent hip-hop organization on the rise).
He currently works with two female vocalists, a live jaz band called "The
Wdouji age", as well as numerous hard core hip-hop M.C.'s from all over
the U.S. and plans to release lots of new material in the year 2000 on
numerous lables around the U.S. and Canada. DJ Curious has catered
his music all over the country and has followings in Hawaii, New Yrk, California,
Oregon, Washinton D.C., Seattle, New Orleans, Louisville, Arizona, and
Las Vegas just to name a few. He is a working class DJ and does this
full time for a living. He also works as a sales represent ative
for "Rufnek Apparel". A drum and bass urban influenced clothing line
established in 1993. He endorses it as well as helps with the marketing
and designing of the clothing. By day you can find him at "Zen Beats"
a hip-hop/drum and bass record store located in Whittier, CA. Just
20 minutes from down town Los Angeles. Here he does the record buying
for Jungle and Maintains the satisfaction of it's customers. He has
also appeared in such magazines as URB, industry insider, and Knowledge
(a drum and bass magazine published in the U.K.) and maintains a weekly
live internet mix show every wednesday night from 6-8:00 pm pacific time
at www.dublab.com
called "revolution".
As a full time DJ/Producer and record label owner DJ Curious has
devoted all his time heart and effort into his music and will continue
to do so for the rest of his life. |
