Celebrating the Darkness & Returning Light
By Dekora

December is a time of celebrating the light. In just about any religion you will see the return of the light - whether it be in the form of the Sun or the "Son" (Jesus). We represent and encourage this returning light by hanging lights on our houses, putting candles (both fake and real) in the windows, lighting the Menorah, the Kinara, the Yule Log, the Advent Wreath or the Christmas Tree.

In many pagan religions this is a time of going within, looking inside of ourselves to the shadows and the "dark" where new things are waiting to be discovered. The darkness is not to be feared or pushed aside as it is just as valid as the light, it holds the deep waters of creation, symbolised by the nurturing womb of the pregnant Goddess, it is where we pull new manifestations from.

When we look within, we see the potential to create new beginnings, and the ability to release old thoughts, habits and hurts to the ocean of change and transformation. In paganism, there are many goddesses that are both creators and destroyers. Kali, of the Hindu pantheon, is a very vivid personage of this energy. She is most often portrayed as being the manifestation of life itself - she is the mother, giving birth from her loins and womb, while her children encircle her, eventually coming to her mouth where they are devoured and reintegrated into the Void, the Mother, the Creator, becomes the Destroyer. It is symbolic of the eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth - something that is also seen in the cycle of the seasons.

At this time of darkness, pagans take time to hibernate, nurture the lessons that we learned in the last year, and plan for the year ahead. In the Spring, come Imbolc (February 2nd) we will "plant" these ideas and nurture them for harvesting later on in the year. At this time however we just reflect. It is the silent, long nights of Winter that give us plenty of time indoors, wrapped up in the warmth of our homes, to look back on the year past, to celebrate achievements, re-evaluate failures, plan future actions, and to take time to spread love and joy to family and friends.

Candle rituals are very common at this time of the year. Lighting candles nightly with a prayer of gratitude and for peace among all beings, that they may see the light in the darkness, is something that benefits all at this time. Advent Wreaths are very popular for this - if you're not Catholic, don't worry about it! I took the idea of the wreath and re-worked it into my personal celebration of Yule - the Winter Solstice and longest night of the year. Each night I light the candle(s) for that week and meditate on the lessons of this time of year, when Yule arrives, all candles are lit in celebration! At Yule, we celebrate the long night with candles and merriment, knowing that from this day forth, the days will get longer, and the Sun's journey will bring it closer to the Earth, until Summer Solstice when it will once more venture away from us.

No matter which religion you follow - Christian, Pagan, or something else - December holidays, be they Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa or Hanukkah, are a time of generosity, of giving, counting our blessings, coming together in the celebration of humanity, peace and love, while respecting the various and diverse religious beliefs that come with this time of year. Enjoy your holidays, and have a happy new year!

Surviving the Holidays
By Jessica Setnick

Can you believe it’s December already? Regardless of which holidays you celebrate, if you live in America, your life at this time of year is bound to be filled with activities, stress, and food. Here is my annual compilation of tips to help you survive the last month of the year in better shape than usual. Pick your favorites and don’t forget to feed every part of yourself during the holidays - mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical.

It will be harder to take care of others if you are not taking care of yourself. As much as possible, maintain your regular sleep, exercise, and eating patterns. This is not the time to go on a diet or make drastic changes to your lifestyle. It is also not a good time to be sleep deprived. Don’t skip meals, even if you have a big one coming up soon. It is so helpful to eat on time so that you’re not starving when you are surrounded by food. That makes it easier to stay calm and listen to your body, so you can eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full, rest when you’re tired, and relax when you’re stressed.

Recognize your limits and practice saying no. This includes when people offer you food. Never overeat because of pressure from others. If you eat more than usual at a holiday meal or party, remind yourself that overeating occasionally does not cause instant weight gain, and that your body knows what to do with that food. It is normal to eat more than usual during the holidays, and it really is okay. In all likelihood you will return to your normal eating habits the next day, and your body weight will, too. Think of activities the whole family can do instead of sitting around eating.

Be flexible about your expectations -- almost nothing can turn out exactly as planned, so hoping for it will only lead to disappointment. Plan ahead how you will cope with difficult family members or situations by preparing your responses and picking a "safe spot" you can escape to if gatherings become stressful.

Try not to count calories or weigh yourself if either of these adds to your stress. If the thought of not weighing worries you, find a friend who will weigh you backward and reassure you as long as you are within a 5 pound range. This way you will know you are within your usual weight range without panicking over a 1 or 2 pound gain that could easily be due to water retention after a big meal.

Get as organized as possible so you don’t have to duplicate effort. Write shopping lists and errand lists and organize them by geography. Don’t schedule so many activities that you become exhausted. List all the parties to which you are invited, all your errands, etc. Prioritize, then cross off those that are honestly not necessary or that will only add to your stress. Determine what you enjoy most during the holidays and schedule time for it. Determine what you enjoy least and cross it off your list! If you are really honest with yourself, you may realize most of your time is scheduled to make others happy. A little selfishness goes a long way this time of year toward making you happy.

Find a prayer, affirmation, or saying that is meaningful to you, and carry it in your wallet or purse. Turn to it for comfort or a reality check when stress gets high. Try to look "on the bright side" whenever you can; laugh as much as possible, even (especially!) at your own mistakes. If you feel like you’re the only one who gets crabby at this time of year, make a pact with a friend or loved one to just vent to each other for 5 or 10 minutes each day.

Finally, find time to be spiritual and make this time of year meaningful in your own way, whether it is through religion, faith, meditation, giving thanks, art or your own expression of yourself. Taking care of your body, mind, and spirit is the best way to survive the holidays without sacrificing your health.

Understanding Orbs and Orb Starseeds
By Rachel Fischer

Being an avid student of the paranormal, I love discovering evidence of our galactic neighbors. During my research I came across a species known as Orbs. They appear as spherical energy patterns or glowing balls of light. Being intrigued by the theory that Orbs are a race of multidimensional beings, I decided to learn more about these unique creatures. Here’s what I discovered.

Physical Characteristics and Personality

In addition to glowing balls, Orbs can appear in a rainbow of colors. Barely physical, their bodies can be described as bubbles of energy. Scientists, who have researched Orbs, believe their body is made of dense groupings of charged particles called plasma. This could mean that Orbs are the simplest sentient beings in the Universe.

In regards to polarity, Light/Dark, they appear to be polarized to the Light. Orbs feel and express “Light” feelings of love, happiness, bliss, and joy, etc. Their bodies are so fragile and sensitive that they are incapable of processing “Dark” feelings of pain and anger. Just witnessing a conflict can hurt them. Not being able to fully experience “Dark” feelings they are quite innocent in nature. Orbs are like children who never grow up. This, of course, is evident in their bubbly outgoing demeanor and child-like naiveté. They are very playful, inquisitive, and love to explore.

Societal Characteristics

Through a form of research that I call, “timeline work”, in which I use my psychic abilities to tap into alternate timelines, I discovered that like other societies that have polarized to the Light, Orbs live in collectives. A collective society functions as a unified consciousness. The minds and emotions of each member are linked so that everyone can experience what the others are thinking and feeling. This connection creates a peaceful and harmonious society but at the expense of free will and individuality.

The Orb belief system states each member of the collective exists to serve others not only in their own species but in the galactic community at large. Serving others is an important form of soul growth.

Fields of Expertise

One of the ways that Orbs serve their galactic neighbors is by using their capability for interdimensional travel to act as windows into other dimensions. In essence, they provide a telescopic view into another world. For example when we see Orbs in photographs, many times they are there acting as a window for someone in another dimension. In this capacity Orbs are like historians, recording events as they play out.

Due to their preference for living in groups, when serving within civilian populations, Orbs adapt well to family life. They can be employed as companions to single or aging people, or playmates to small children. In some cases, they are the childcare provider, giving the parents remote visual access to their child via their ability to be in two places at once. Imagine yourself as parent and on your desk at work sits an Orb. When you look at it much like peering into a crystal ball or TV, you can see a real time picture of your child at play.

Orb’s abilities are also used within religious or spiritual groups wherein they act similar to crystal balls, allowing individuals to see past or future timelines.

There are societies in existence that worship Orbs as gods because of the vast amounts of wisdom they possess from their service within many different cultures on many different worlds.

Orbs as Starseeds

Like many other galactic races, Orbs have sent members of their society to represent them as starseeds on Earth. These souls have agreed to incarnate as humans on Earth to aid this planet and themselves. Below are the characteristics that I’ve found to indicate an Orb starseed.

• Highly sensitive and psychic.

• A common health issue is severe allergies.

• Described as sweet, cute, naïve, and/or child-like.

• Tend to be very well-mannered and obedient.

• Tend to be very private, quiet, shy and introverted.

• Are great observers and are very creative individuals.

• Are passionate about learning.

• Learn by observing others and repeating what they are trying to learn.

• Strive for perfection.

• Tend to be followers rather than leaders.

• Can seem ungrounded or detached.

• React to situations passively and let others take advantage of them.

• Tend to ignore or run away from pain.

• Find social situations challenging.

What Orb Starseeds are Here to Give

Being very playful and inquisitive individuals, Orb Starseeds are here to show others how to remain open to the magic of life which keeps our creative juices alive. They teach us to observe life, as a child does, examining and playing with everything possible, remaining open to the miracles of life.

Additionally, Orb Starseeds are here to help us understand the Universe in a new way. They are here to teach us about the oneness of life. Although individual aspects of life appear separate from each other, Orb Starseeds see all life existing as a unified whole. They live each day in respect and with empathy for all living things, as ones actions can influence the life of another in unknowable ways.

What Orb Starseeds are Here to Gain

The Orb Starseed’s goal is to learn to embrace individuality and the full range of “Dark” feelings that come with it, a trait they have not yet developed. This means that they need to learn how to make their own choices rather than follow the pack. To do so they must embrace the idea that having thoughts, beliefs, and desires that are outside of the norm or status quo are okay.

Further, they must learn to establish healthy boundaries or limits on how much they give and serve others. In other words, they must become healthily selfish. Coming from a belief that states that their worth depends on how and to what extent they serves others; this is not an easy change to make.

Additionally, understanding the value in pain is particularly difficult for them. The Orb body is nowhere near capable of withstanding the amount of pain that a human body can! Without boundaries, one does not feel safe. Instead of setting the boundaries to make it safe to feel and express emotions, these individuals may find any number of ways to ignore them and escape pain. Their daily activities, such as studying, playing music and even eating, become modes of escape rather than a source of enjoyment.

Living in such a way can leave one feeling very depleted and unhappy with their life. They may manifest any number of emotional or physical challenges that aid them in learning to set boundaries. The most common emotional issues for Orb Starseeds are in the social realm. In facing fears and the possibility of pain they distance themselves from others and become reclusive rather than playful individuals. Without boundaries, they can end up in codependent relationships in which actions are taken to please others rather than ones self. In such relationships they try to rescue others from their pain or let others take advantage of them. While taking care of others, as Orbs are programmed to do, they deny their own needs.

When their fear of feeling pain and “Dark” feelings becomes the predominant focus in their lives, they will manifest this need through developing severe allergic reactions to others and to their environment in general. Many Orbs experience multiple allergies to foods, chemicals, dust, and even people! Allergies are the subconscious’s way of saying that it feels unsafe with its life choices. By setting personal boundaries an Orb Starseed can learn to have self-love, joy, and compassion in ways they never had before.

In closing, I hope I have furthered your understanding of Orbs and their Starseeds. You may even discover that you or your child is an Orb starseed. Having a better understanding of our galactic neighbors will help us to prepare for citizenship in the galactic community.

Sagittarius: Path with a Purpose
By Gururattan Kaur Khalsa, Ph.D.

The Sun entered the Sagittarius sky late November 21st and will stay through December 20th.

Sagittarius is the third and last fire sign of the zodiac. In the last sign of each element we reach a higher level of maturity, gain a deeper appreciation of life, and consolidate the consciousness of that element. Aries teaches us to develop a sense of our own identity and to relate to our soul. Leo teaches us to use our fire energy to express ourselves through our unique creativity. When we get to Sagittarius we need to find and commit to our spiritual path. To do so fully we need to be able to project from the purity of our soul. This is, of course, no small feat and in fact a major lifetime goal of our spiritual journey.

LIBRA AND SCORPIO

Libra teaches us to cultivate the neutral mind, without which we can never project from clarity and innocence. Scorpio obliges us to enter the underworld of the subconscious so that we can get in touch with emotional programming that clouds our innocence and the vision of our path. Restrictive beliefs and misinterpreted fear, anger and sadness derail our journey and send us off in directions that create pain, confusion and unintended karma. When negative programming controls our psyche, our energy and projection is formulated by attitudes, thoughts and actions that are protective instead of expansive and defensive instead of creative. We avoid life instead of embracing it.

While the Sun is in Scorpio we bury ourselves in a cave and watch the disturbing shadows. When the Sun enters Sagittarius we emerge from the darkness, our inner focus and our self-absorption. Our perspective is expanded, our understanding is illuminated and our spirit is uplifted. We realize that there is more to life than the ghosts that haunt our subconscious.

FINDING OUR PATH

The arrow of the Sagittarian Archer is aimed toward the Truth. The Centaur (half man, half horse) is on a spiritual journey. To find the Truth, we must transcend our social and religious conditioning, we must expand our minds, and we must gain a greater perspective. To do so, we must move outside our normal routine -- travel, experience other cultures, and witness the sacredness of all life. In the process of discovering the diversity of beliefs and ways of doing things, we increase our range of options and widen our horizons. We identify what makes us feel comfortable and at home. We discover and develop our unique spiritual path.

OUR INNER DISCOVERY OF CAUSE AND EFFECT

Our inner journey obliges us to examine the orientation of our arrow and the projections and intentions that direct it. We learn to identify the life choices that orient us toward the Divine and those that bury us deeper into darkness. To be a conscious co-creator of our lives, we have to examine the cause of what we create. We usually preoccupy ourselves with what we want and what we have created that we don’t want. To understand how we have created what we have (or don’t have) and how to get more satisfying results, we must get in touch with how we are creating our reality.

Self-empowerment requires taking responsibility for the fact that every effect has a cause that is internally generated. Every consequence is the result of a sequence that we have set in motion in our own thought-emotion-projection-action sequence. One of the critical components of a spiritual path is to expand our consciousness to the point where we can become aware of how and why we create sequences. As we do so, we can choose how we influence the consequences that we manifest.

THE FIRE OF CONSCIOUSNESS

The problem with most human beings is that our subconscious activity is more powerful than our conscious activity. Our subconscious programming runs whatever we are not conscious of. We meditate to clear the fog in our minds and to cultivate awareness. In a state of awareness we have choice. We are at choice because we are in touch with how we engage our mind and our emotions. We can affect the energy instead of being at the affect of it. We move from a passive victim to an actively engaged participant in our lives.

It is fire energy that supplies us with the power and stamina to create more light in our minds and to clear stagnant emotional energy. It is fire energy that empowers us to set up and sustains a different creative cycle. It is fire energy that removes the blocks so that we can know our path. It is our internal fire that ignites our passion to believe in ourselves, to commit to our path and to persevere on our journey.

NEW TERRITORY

Sagittarius introduces us to the obvious – everything, every day, every moment is new territory. Human life in time and space creates, by its very nature, an infinite unfolding of evolving experiences. Through experience we move into a new way of being with ourselves and our lives at each moment. We understand that the nature of existence is to move us forward into the unknown. The question is not whether we will face the unknown each day, but HOW we will face it. Will we utilize the lessons and knowledge of the past to create a foundation of security and confidence to spring board us into each new day? Or will we attempt to hold on to the familiar and reluctantly step into the inevitable future?

Sagittarius directs our arrow to the heavens, reminding us that there are higher forces at work. It is our connection with these higher forces that eliminates the trepidation caused by the false perception of separation and aloneness. It is our connection with the unknown that replaces the above with experiences of oneness, divine assistance and trust.

IDEALS: DO WE WANT TO BE RIGHT OR CONTENT?

Ideals are part of the Sagittarius repertoire. Ideals can propel us to the heights of uncharted territory. Ideals can also get us into a lot of trouble. On the negative side, ideals can be used as the basis of fanaticism, which is usually fueled by the subconscious need to be right. Young souls define their identity in relationship to a group. They believe they need everyone to be the same as them in order to confirm their identity. This means that everyone who does not agree with them is wrong, dammed, infidel or evil. There is a lot of young soul consciousness on the planet at this time.

There is another ideal and that is to experience contentment and peace. In a world and universe of diversity and evolution, this precludes the need to be right and the exclusivity mentality. Although it is easy for most of us reading this newsletter to accept the diversity of religions and life paths, we still need to examine how the need to adhere to ideals trips us up. Spiritual paths always set ideal standards. Yet these are goals that we work toward, not standards that we are immediately able to live by. The problem comes when we have unrealistic expectations of ourselves and others.

In Earth school, we are in the process of learning and training ourselves to reach higher levels of consciousness. When we expect perfection instead of allow for and enjoy our evolutionary journey, we sabotage and preclude our goal of achieving contentment and inner peace. While the Sun is in Sag is a good time to examine how we make our lives miserable with “shoulds” and foster depression and dissatisfaction with thinking that pits us against standards that we cannot meet. If we look closely we can see that we are expecting ourselves to live by rules set by someone else, which may not be relevant to our situation or time and place.

PATH WITH A HEART

One common issue in the Kundalini yoga path is adhering to the ideal of rising in the amrit vela (2-21/2 hours before sunrise) to do sadhana. Many people perpetuate authority issues and feed guilt programs because they are unable to live to this ideal. There are alternatives to the “all or nothing” let me feel bad about myself approach. One is to feel satisfied and grateful for being able to devote the amount of time that you can allot to meditation and yoga (and still get enough sleep to not drain your kidneys) before a busy day. The answer is not to throw out our ideals, but to create realistic and compassionate practices that we can comfortably follow to our next level of conscious development.

Sagittarius reminds us that our path is OUR path. We define it. We follow it. And we devote our lives to it. Sagittarius teaches us to define a path with a purpose and follow it with all our heart. The fire signs enjoy the experience of simply being alive and living every moment of life fully. Sag points the arrow of our heart toward the Divine. It also reminds us that to experience the Divine we have to be all-inclusive. Every energy, every impulse, every creation, every experience, every person is an expression of the Divine. When our perception of reality becomes this inclusive, we know God.

GEMINI FULL MOON – NOVEMBER 26

The Gemini Full Moon, at 4 degrees Gemini opposing the Sun is at 4 degrees Sagittarius, is at 12:07 PM PST (8:07 PM GMT) November 26th.

The planetary alignment at this Full Moon makes us feel restless, needing to move on and to change. We just can’t stay stuck any more. There is an irresistible urge to hit the road and to open our minds to less conflictual and more tolerant ways of thinking and our hearts to more compassionate ways of being. These impulsive urges are activated by Uranus squaring both the Sun and the Moon. The exact square of the Sun and Uranus will be November 24th. Mercury also conjuncts (same sign and degree) Pluto in Sagittarius. Mars in Scorpio squares Neptune in Aquarius. There is a sense of urgency in the air “to transform small-minded, short-sighted, and cold-hearted agendas.” *(1) At long last we are ready to get real and realistic about our lives.

The Full Moon comes the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving. Giving thanks at harvest time is a tradition observed by all cultures since antiquity. To thank derives from a Germanic word for thoughtfulness. *(2) It is indeed a time not only be thankful for our gifts and blessings, but to thoughtfully consider what we venerate and what is truly worth celebration. It is time to examine what we honor and to look deeply at what we are doing and why. What we discover will impel us to reach beyond what we know, because we are no longer comfortable with the status quo. It is a time to put on new glasses, to reformulate of our values, ideals and goals. It is also time to set out on a new journey of discovery and to jump with all our heart into the evolutionary unknown.

The Centaur’s journey leads him to the realization that everyone has their own path to their own soul truth. What is important for the Centaur is to focus on his on path and not to be derailed by following someone’s ideas or by trying to convince others to join him on his path.

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON – DECEMBER 11-12

The New Moon is December 11 at 5:30 PM PST or December 12 at 1:30 AM GMT at 20 degrees Sagittarius. This New Moon invites us to set our sites high and aim for clear guidance and wisdom. What we are seeking at this New Moon is a deeper understanding of our soul purpose and what specifically we can do to bring more meaning into our lives. Where is 20 degrees Sagittarius in your birth chart? This is where you feel the inner urge to expand your perspective, explore new horizons, tap dormant potentials and create new adventures for yourself.

Both Pluto and Mercury conjunct this New Moon, opening the window of our mind to possibilities that were once only dreams. Pluto gets us in touch with both the light and the shadow side of Sagittarius. The Centaur’s shadow is obsessive, excessive, fanatical and arrogant. We are being given a chance to admit and examine the delusions that run our psyche and the deceptions that control our projection. If we can free ourselves of our imprisoning beliefs, prejudices and false operating assumptions, our arrow can pierce through the darkness and enter the dimension of light, gratitude and love. Our projection can be empowered by the purity of our soul.

MERCURY RETROGRADE NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 20

Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius turns the party inward. Instead of looking for entertainment outside ourselves, (between Nov. 30 and Dec. 20) we are being invited to entertain ourselves with a thorough re-think of our priorities, redefinition of our goals and reexamination of the vantage point from which we make decisions about our lives. Do you dare to say “no” to the parties that exhaust you and say “yes” to spending quality time with yourself? Being able to discriminate is an important Sag lesson. Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 4-January 9th. We have over two months to monitor where we have come in the past year and to prepare our spiritual journey for 2005.

Doubts of a Healer
By Carrie Hart & Quado

A reader asks:

I have just begun my business as a healer from my home and a lot of self-doubt is arising. This spirals into "how can I call myself a healer when I can't even heal myself of doubt?" I seem to have an issue with the title "healer" which gets in the way even though I try to tell myself that it is just a word. I know that what I do is facilitation only and that self-healing is activated for the person. I ponder on the idea that maybe I am not helping the person with lasting transformation, if I am only temporarily helping them to clear their energy field, but not truly helping them to transform the core belief that creates the imbalance.

Quado responds:

It is not necessary for the healer to be completely healed in order to help others heal themselves. For what would that mean in any event, to be completely clear of all fears and doubts, to be completely enlightened? This is not a state you are likely to attain and it is certainly not necessary for your purposes.

Healing is a lifetime activity and it is also one which requires some repetition. This is to be expected. When you spend an entire lifetime building up certain energies and patterns and habits, it would be unrealistic for you to expect to be able to make them go away completely in one treatment. Instead, what you can do is give someone a jump start, give them some strength in which to realign their energies. Some people are in such a weakened state that they need this outside energy in order to begin to heal themselves.

Yes, you should make it clear to your clients that it is their responsibility to heal themselves and that their thought patterns and other habits in their life must be addressed to have a lasting effect. But they should also know that no matter what they do, there will be a natural tendency for the mind and body to revert to old ways and patterns, and that it may be that it is necessary to again give them an energy boost at a later time. This may be necessary multiple times, because of the tenacity of old ways and also because every time there is a crisis or great anxiety, fear and doubt set in and begin to battle the positive energy patterns you have put in place.

All of this is natural and to be expected. Tell your clients this. Let them know that you can only do what you can do and that they need to not only address the change themselves but also be aware when they feel they are losing the battle and need an extra boost.

Do not think that this is not significant. Anyone who has been depressed or in crisis can tell you that even a temporary relief can be very significant and can give them just the breathing room they need to stop the downward spiral, take a deep breath and start spiraling upwards instead.

As for your own doubt, the best cure for this is to dedicate yourself to your work. Over time you will have enough successes that your doubts will become less. Over time, people will come to you and tell you that you did indeed transform their lives, and you will begin to grow in confidence. But until that happens, just take a deep breath and act as if you are confident and do what you can do.

Do not be tentative. Do what you can do. It is enough. Remember always that this is not about you. You are an instrument for other energies which are working through you as you are healing. Put yourself out of the center of this activity. Your doubts and your state of health are not at all the issue. Instead, before you do your healing, ask that you might be visited upon by the talents and skills necessary to do the best possible for your client. Ask for help. Ask for higher guides, for angels, for whomever you wish to have at your side. Ask and the help will be there. And then surrender to it. When you feel guided to do something, then just do it. Stop questioning and doubting. It has nothing to do with you.

When you surrender to the process and the other energies which are working through you, you will feel many subtle inclinations and impulses. Follow them. If you do not feel this, then follow your prescribed pattern of healing. But if you feel that you should do something different, if you feel unaccountably drawn to break the rules you have been taught, then by all means do so. Over time you will find that these are the most significant actions and words, the ones which come to you unbidden, and you will begin to develop your own techniques. You will also begin to understand better the energies which are with you and to specifically call some of them in certain situations. All of this will happen if you will but allow it to be.

As for your hesitancy about the term “healer,” this is just fear and doubt speaking. Just accept it. You are a healer. You are a healer of yourself and of others. And even though you know that they will do the healing, your role in their healing is very important, in that you can channel to them energies which they are otherwise too weak to get for themselves.

Be very open to developing your own ways of doing things. Experiment and dare. Continue reading and learning. Work with different types of healing techniques and take from each one just what you feel works for you. Do not feel that what worked for one teacher or practitioner will be best for you. The more you do all of this, the more you will be confident enough to follow your own lead, to listen to your own voices, to do it your way.

Healing is a very individual thing, an art, really, and it requires that you have the sensitivity of the artist. Allow that to be. Be very creative. Be original. Be daring. Put it all together in your own way and you will do well indeed. And when you do not know what to do, then follow what you read somewhere or what you were taught to do until something else comes to you. Make this a fun adventure.

You are deeply blessed, for each person you heal is also healing you. The energies which you channel to help them are flowing through you and healing you. And eventually, they will heal your fears and doubts as well. Just relax and do it. You will do well. Do not fear it.

And remember too, that you may also call me to help you. If you are feeling hesitant and uncertain, if fear and doubt are beginning to take over, then just silently call my name and ask me to come and take away your fear and doubt. Ask me to come and wrap my love around you. Ask me to sweep away the fear and doubt and replace it with love. Ask me to be with you and I will be there. It is a promise.

Relax. Breathe. Ask for help. And then, just do it. The rest will come.

Spirit Signs - December 2004
By Robyn Johnston

Making gems!

What do you do when trouble comes your way? I have a great formula to pass along to you. In my opinion, I have found a beautiful example from mother nature! One of the finest displays of turning adversity into a triumph of brilliance.

Think of a how a gorgeous gem, such as a pearl, comes to be. We all appreciate the beauty of the finished product and admire is luster and size. But really, it is the process of making the pearl that we can emulate to build our spiritual characters.

"The pearl is actually composed of the material with which a mollusk coats an irritating particle that it cannot get rid of. This irritant may be a piece of broken shell, a parasite that has bored through the shell, or even a tiny grain of sand. The material the mollusk keeps layering onto the piece to keep it from being an irritation is nacre, or mother-of-pearl. As many layer of mother-of-pearl are built up, a pearl is made," Morton R. Sarett, Jewelry Industry Council, The New Book of Knowledge 1995.

How awesome is that? Instead of lamenting about bad luck and giving up, the mollusk takes the perceived negative and transforms it into an object of beauty and desire! Wonderful example, wouldn't you say? Often when things get us down and don't go the way we plan, we tend to complain and moan. Sometimes the problem is made worse with incessant whining and worry. Sometimes after carrying on for a time, the problem will seem even bigger than it really is. What was once a small sore has now become a festering boil.

How do you handle irritating news? How do deal with an unwelcome guest? How do you fix the broken pieces of your day, your relationships, your life? How do you deal with imperfections? Why not coat these irritations with beauty and turn them into a pearl?

Often our opinion and attitudes determine the type of life we lead. We can be an inspiration to others, despite the fact that things may not be "perfect" in our lives. We have seen great heroes arise, coming in all different shapes, sizes, physical and mental abilities and skills. There are many positive examples and stories of inspiration that serve as jewels, waiting to be picked up and treasured along our journeys!

"Pearls are made by certain kinds of oysters, clams and mussels. All these animals are called mollusks, from a Latin word meaning "soft" because they have soft bodies inside hard shells."

Here too is another example to ponder. We are called to be light to the whole human race. At this time there is a lot of negative programming and false ideals that are being passed around. It is hard to know what the truth is sometimes. As we work through our transformations, we may be called to endure some painful events that will help shape our, ideals, beliefs and morals, as well as spiritual characters. We cannot bend, we must stand firm. We cannot give up on our visions for a bright, peaceful world, an environment governed by the principles of love and acceptance, rather than control and domination. To take such a stand we will be called to "develop hard outer shells". We will need to be firmly grounded so that we might anchor what we wish to bring fourth. To be successful though, we will need to have the key ingredient, love. Our love and light is housed in the soft tissue of our hearts. It is the core of our soul, and the padding that will ultimately turn our travesties into triumph, our irritations into a source of inspiration, our imperfections into symbols of grand leadership.

So travelers, in addition to collecting souveniers along your journey, be like the pearl and make your own gems to treasure and share! Turn your irritations into inspirations, look upon your challenge with respect and optimism. You may be in job you loathe, or be joined with persons who do not support you, but please do not let this prevent you from creating beautiful treasures in your life. Honor these irritations, coat them with love. You can transform them, making them an object of beauty, by piling on layers of love, peace and joy! Like the mollusk, you too can turn the tiny grains of sand in your life into much sought after, gemstones of peace.

Prosperity Meditation by Lorrie Kazan

I am grateful for life. I focus on good, whether it's the smallest star in the sky, or the barest hint of the moon, and more goodness appears. I love life and life loves me. I am rewarded with vibrant health, money, love, and consistent success. Abundance is my natural state. The more I share, the more I have, and there is always enough for everyone. An attitude of gratitude joyously lights my way.

Featured Artist
Willow Arlenea

Based on her fascination with art, dance, nature, mysticism and psychology, the paintings of Willow Arlenea reflect an intensity, spirituality and love of indigenous cultures combined with brilliant tones and fluidity of movement.

Willow’s paintings are as colorful and eclectic as her life journey. The fluidity and multidimensionality apparent in her work transports the viewer into more subtle realms of experience. Geometric patterns, flows of energy, luminescence, archetypal images and ethnic designs are combined to convey the transformational journey we all share.

Between earning a B.F.A. from Boise State University and a master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology from Naropa Institute, Willow’s carer path took many twists and turns, from teaching in the public school system to watercolor painting to designing ethnic dance costumes to creating fiber wall hangings, wearable art clothing, masks and colorful collage jewelry, until her artistic exploration culminated with this stunning series of vibrant acrylic paintings with collage.

Using a dramatic palette of vivid crimson, deep amethyst, bold ruby, ultramarine blue and glittering gold, Willow successfully weaves together the influence of craft, sacred energies of nature and archetypal symbolism. When she is not in her studio painting, Willow continues to explore various healing and tranformational methods.

Monthly Energy Report
By Ron & Robert Baker

This will be the month of SYNTHESIS. This will bring us into Oneness and intuition unlike anything we have known. We will learn to trust that intuition. We will create a resonance of Being, connected to Self unlike ever before. This culmination of all that we have invested in during the year of 2004 will come together in a much deeper awareness of the truth of things, as well as the vastness of life.

We will begin to experience on an emotional level our connection to all humanity. We will learn to consider the well-being of humanity on a personal level. This will bring an intuition that is new and profound. This will be a presence that is flawless in its awakening. You may even experience the perfection in it all, with a sense of being the source of your own well-being.

In moments, you will glimpse how it is all Divinely perfect as we continue in our evolution to oneness, wholeness and unity. There will be no need to control anything in that quiet connection to the center of Self. There will be less distracting thoughts. There will be less need to judge or to protect or to defend. We will come to the point where we have retired this primitive approach to life.

We will begin to make choices from deep within….places that are sacred. As we make these choices, we will become aware of being the creators of our lives, intimate with all other life.

In the outer world, we will see organizations and friends at varying levels and degrees. Those who are most conscious will experience the greatest benefits. It will be a time of new beginnings. And we will begin to experience the magic of Being, less caught up in outer dramas that pull us from that awareness to life.

That is the potential of this time – a deeper connection to the inner light of the intuition of the soul, taking our place as initiates in world service; an awareness of the Divine Plan and beginning to take our place in it, guided by the truth of our hearts. We will truly deepen our experience of value and meaning and purpose.

About The Authors:

"It continues to be our goal to reach as many people as possible with these pieces of healing information. However, we also continue to be concerned about the need to gather specific tools with which to respond and integrate these changing energies. We feel it is vital to be able to put the pieces of the puzzle into a larger context of healing. That is why we have put together more specifics of the entire personal and planetary movement, as well as what we can continue to expect in each step, and a grounded process of dealing with these changes - in Ron's book, Revelations for a Healing World – Book One. It has already proved to help hundreds and hundreds of people all over the world. We hope that you will consider it as a tool to nurture and educate those around you at this time."

Ron Baker is an author, a self-empowerment coach, international teacher, Reiki Master, counselor and healing practitioner. Before pursuing a career in the healing arts, he was very successful as a performing artist - acting in over 60 leading roles in film and on Broadway and opera stages around the world. His life is now dedicated to educating and inspiring others to tap deeper layers of personal potential and self-empowerment.
