The Power
of the Word
By
Asoka Selvarajah
|
|
Second to
thought alone, words have tremendous power, both in the manifest
and the material world. Spiritual teachings remind us that the
universe is energy, thought is energy, and that our thoughts
can work directly upon the energy flux of the universe, and
thereby manifest our desires.
This is
ultimately how anything and everything in the universe was,
and continues to be, created - through the power of deliberate
focused intelligence. Hence, the idea that we can become co-creators
with God is true only to the extent that we master our thoughts,
purify our minds and develop the capacity to focus them with
unwavering concentration upon what we seek to manifest.
Spoken words
are largely overlooked in the modern world as instruments of
immense esoteric power. Yes, we know their exoteric power to
sway in a powerful speech. Both Hitler and Martin Luther King
were excellent exponents of this - each in his own arena. However,
the ESOTERIC power of words to affect change in the universe
DIRECTLY has bèen the long-standing secret tradition
in ancient wisdom. As the Bible says:
"In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the
Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was
not anything made that was made" John 1: 1,3
In a very
practical sense, the quality of life you experience is directly
related to the quality of the words you use. Are your words
often cynical, harsh, abrasive or abusive? That is the quality
of life that you will tend to manifest. Are your thoughts gentle,
pure, tranquil, loving and filled with joy? That is the quality
of life that you will enjoy. Your words follow your thoughts,
and your thoughts manifest the world you live in.
Hence, by
monitoring your words and seeking to control them, you get a
direct grip on what you mind is thinking and manifesting for
you. It is the mind that creates your life experience, and you
get a close-up look at what it is doing from focusing upon your
habitual words - both to yourself and to other people.
In ancient
tradition, words were considered to have specific esoteric energies.
Even the letters of the alphabet were attributed with specific
numerical values, symbols, and energies. Ancient Hebrew is an
excellent example of this numerological construction. Words
constructed from the Hebrew alphabet represented specific formulations
of vibrational energy; which is the very stuff of the universe,
since the universe is vibrational energy in its very essence.
This is
why great significance was given to the names of objects and
entities. To have the real name of something or someone was
to have control over it. The implication was that you could
cause that thing or entity to obey your will. Hence, responsible
use of this power was absolutely vital, or else you ran the
risk of looking like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, unleashing powers
you had no idea how to control and quivering at the consequences
of what you had done!
This is
why modern day Christians have it totally wrong about blasphemy,
and "taking the Lord's name in vain". They mistakenly
think that simply saying "Oh God!" or "Oh Christ!"
in a moment of exasperation is a blasphemous misuse of the name
of God. Wrong.
These expletives
are about as blasphemous as saying "Oh Goodness!",
or something similar. The real idea of "taking the Lord's
name in vain" lies in the power of the name itself, as
discussed above. The idea is that when you call upon the secret
name of God, with all the focus of your mind and will, and with
your will tuned to the Source of the universe, you can literally
command God to do what you would have him do!
Hence, the
idea of taking the Lord's name in vain might be to use this
awesome holy power for something foolishly trivial, like summoning
up a bottle of coke, because you're too lazy to go down to the
corner shop. To translate this to a modern analogy, you wouldn't
pull the emergency stop handle on a subway train simply to tie
your shoelace!
Hence, the
blasphemy here is about a MISUSE OF ENERGY - the power inherent
in the secret name of God, and entrusted to the believer. One
privy to the most powerful secret in the universe must use it
with responsibility and full awareness, not for petty self-serving
ends. Simply saying "Oh Jesus!" is neither here nor
there.
Similarly,
we can use words to manifest extremely powerful effects in our
lives. There are many ways to do so. As we have said, one effective
way is to ensure that the majority of words you use on a daily
basis are wholesome and helpful: the sort of words you would
like the quality of your life to be patterned after.
Another
way is in meditation. You can take a world like Peace, Love,
Joy, Harmony, and repeat it slowly aloud to yourself, or in
the silence in your mind. Do it slowly and resonantly, allowing
the full vibration of the word to penetrate your mind and body
and then surround you, thereby touching your life in all areas.
Mantras
are another powerful mystic use of words - an enormous topic
that you would do well to study. You can take a mantra like
"OM" and repeat this to yourself in meditation for
healing and spiritual growth. There are even musical recordings
of OM and other mantras that you can play to create a healing
spiritual vibration in your surroundings.
On the other
side of the coin, holding your tongue can also be most beneficial!
There is increasing noise pollution in our world, as people
increasingly give freè and endless vent to their every
trivial thought, mostly out of pure ego. Perhaps Rap music characterizes
this endless deluge of utterly worthless verbiage better than
anything else in our modern culture.
When you
do waste your words in meaningless chatter, you let that powerful
esoteric energy dissipate worthlessly into empty space.
That is
why it is a great benefit to maintain silence, whenever possible.
After all, even a fool may be thought wise, as long as he keeps
his mouth shut. In his teenage years, the writer was most influenced
by the Christian mystical writer, Thomas A Kempis, particularly
when he wrote, "There are many occasions when I wish
I had kept my silence unbroken, and had not mixed with men.
Why are we so ready to talk and chat with other people when
we rarely return to our silence without some injury to our conscience?
We do it because we hope to receive some comfort from our conversation
together, and because we want to unburden our hearts which are
full of all the things we have thought. We are only too happy
to fill our thoughts with the things we love or desire of find
difficult, and to talk to others about them. The pity is that
it is often silly and useless to do so, for this outward comfort
can destroy the inward comfort that is the gift of God. We must
watch and pray therefore, so that time is not wasted."
- From "The Imitation Of Christ" by Thomas A Kempis
There are
good reasons why silence is such a common feature of monastic
life and silence retreats abound in modern spiritual culture
too. Ponder this, for your everyday life.
Overall
then, the lesson of this article is that we should speak less
(and certainly less foolishly). When we do use words, we should
choose them with care, and use them consciously and with power,
fully aware of the potent impact that have at all levels - material,
emotional, mental and spiritual. Know that words have power
to shape your life, and to manifest what you think about and
talk about all the time. If you have not done so ùp to
now, use them wisely from this day forward.

Inner Peace
& Outer Peace
By
Remez Sasson
|
|
We hear
so much about peace, world peace, peace of mind etc. Is there
such a peace? Why people speak so much about it? Why people
seek peace? Is it possible to experience it?
Real peace
comes from the inside. When there is inner peace, there is also
outer peace. Inner peace is a state where the mind is calm and
tranquil. It is a state where thoughts do not sweep us off our
feet.
The tendency of the mind is to think incessantly without any
rest. Thoughts almost never leave us. We are as if living in
an ocean of thoughts. We are influenced by these thoughts wherever
we are. Worries, fears, questions, and desires fill the mind,
not giving it any rest for a moment.
Because
of this state of affairs people crave inner peace. But though
they long for this peace, they follow their restless minds.
New desires, thoughts and feelings constantly arise, making
them forget any peace they may experience momentarily.
There is
also outer peace, when the outer world around us is at peace
too. Here, as in inner peace, people think and talk about this
state, but they do nothing about it.
Real peace,
whether inner or outer, comes from the spirit. Only when we
make peace inside, with ourselves, does real peace come into
being in the outside world.
In a stormy
lake we cannot see the surface, which is always there. Only
when the waters become calm can we see it. When the mind is
made calm, we become conscious of the inner spiritual self,
which is hidden by the mind.
When we
are able to manage to live and function from the inner self,
and not from the mind, we experience real peace of mind. When
there is peace of mind, there is happiness too. Peace of mind,
happiness and inner bliss is interconnected.
If our inner
world is in peace, then our outer circumstances begin to reflect
this inner peace. Outer peace always follows inner peace. The
people we come in contact with, sense this peace subconsciously,
and respond and behave accordingly.
Developing
the ability to concentrate, meditate, rule one's thoughts, and
not to feel compelled to follow every thought that floats trough
the mind is the key to inner peace.
Inner peace
is achieved individually, not on a wide level. It does not happen
to many. Throughout history, few people really tried to penetrate
inside, beyond the mind and the ego, and to find their real
essence. Only when this is done real outer peace can manifest.
An individual
working on his mind and emotions achieves inner peace, and consequently
enjoy outer peace. It does not matter what are the outer conditions,
and what the state of affairs is around. If you work towards
inner peace, your life and circumstances will change to reflect
this peace.
Sometimes
political and economical conditions are in a mess. If there
is an inner attitude of peace, then the person stays calm, relaxed
and uninfluenced by the outer conditions. In the long run, if
the inner peace is strong, it is bound to influence the outer
conditions.
Most of
you have probably been on a vacation more than once. After a
day or two, you start experiencing some kind of inner calmness
and tranquility. The mind's feverish tendency to think is quelled
down, and the level of worries and endless thinking drops down.
You then enjoy each moment.
When the
mind is peaceful there is also happiness, calmness and inner
confidence. On a vacation most people are more patient, friendly
and well disposed to everyone, because of this inner peacefulness.
It is possible to enjoy this feeling constantly, no matter what
are the outer conditions. You can always feel being on a vacation,
even when you have to go to work, have duties to perform, responsibilities
and various errands and chores.
This state
can be reached by earnest training. Enjoying inner peace does
not make you lazy and inefficient. On the contrary, there is
more energy, power, strength, and ability to deal with whatsoever
arises.

Soul Contract
By Carrie Hart & Quado
|
|
A reader
asks:
I was
told that my soul made a contract with my mother to be her caretaker.
I have found it difficult to have committed relationships with
others because I still allow myself to be controlled by my mother.
Is there a way to break this soul contract, so that I can have
freedom and a family of my own?
Quado
Responds:
There are
several layers to this question I wish to follow. The first
is about this soul contract you were told that you have. I would
ask all of you to listen to your own hearts when you are told
about the nature of your soul. All of this is metaphor for things
which you do not and cannot fully understand, for it goes beyond
what is possible to convey within the limited experiences you
have had and the limited view of your life and your language.
And so, you must always be your own best judge of what is.
When someone
tells you something which they have seen or heard relating to
your experience on another level, on the soul level, they are
likely to be very well-meaning and to be telling you exactly
what they have received and understood. But you must realize
that all channeling and all such activity is an interpretation
unintentionally filtered by the experience and life view of
the human who is receiving the information. This is simply so.
And so you must take it as metaphorical, not literal, and feel
free to put whatever interpretation you wish to what was told
you.
You may
believe it or not believe it. You may believe it at a metaphorical
level, but not a literal level. And you must always ask yourself
this question: Does it feel right? When you are told something
that echoes your own internal truth, it will feel calm and settled
and an inner voice will say, Ah, yes, I knew that.
This then is validation that this person has passed on to you
a valuable truth, something that resonates within you. But if
what you are told makes you afraid or if you feel that it is
somehow not right, then feel free to take it only on the highest
symbolic level and assume that perhaps their view of things
is not quite in alignment with your own.
But now,
in this instance, suppose that it does resonate with you, and
you do feel, deep inside, that this is true, that you are meant
to be her caregiver. Even so, why would this mean that she controls
you? Why would it mean that you are not to have your own life,
your own family, your own relationships?
Not only
do you have free will to make choices during this life, but
you are fully responsible for creating a fulfilling and peaceful
existence for yourself, one in which you are opening yourself
to joy at every turn. Having responsibilities for other people
does not mean that you sacrifice your life to them. You merely
do what is necessary to do and what you feel moved to do, and
then you move on, creating your own life with the time and resources
that you have at your disposal.
When you
believe someone else is controlling you, you must realize that
it is fear that is controlling you. You are afraid to speak
directly to your mother and say what needs to be said. You are
afraid of how she might react. It is that simple. And you are
choosing to deny yourself a full and independent life because
you are afraid. She is not to blame for this; she is not responsible.
You must
reclaim power over your own life and this can be done only by
taking responsibility for it. If someone else is to blame, if
someone else is responsible for your life and what is in it,
then you cannot change it. You must claim it, you must own it.
You must, right now, take full responsibility for everything
you do and say and are, and thereby take the power which is
yours.
And when
you do this, when you accept responsibility for your own life,
you will find that it is possible to have loving and generous
relationships with others, for they will no longer control you.
They may still be difficult people. They may try to control
you. But when you truly have taken responsibility, when you
realize that everything you say and do is a choice, and you
can choose to act in your own best interests, you can choose
to move toward happiness, when you truly understand this, then
you are free. Free to love, free to act. Free to be yourself.
Claim your
own life. You may do with it what you will. Not in anger, not
in guilt, not with all of those negative emotions driving you,
but simply and directly. Learn to love and respect yourself
so much that you can do what you need to do for yourself. Learn
to treat yourself well, showing your love for yourself by demanding
that you be treated with respect, by others and by your own
voice inside your head. Step out of your impotent anger and
frustration and into responsibility and self-love. Learn to
enjoy the freedom that comes with learning to look someone in
the eye and speak directly, openly and honestly, saying what
you have chosen to say, doing what you have chosen to do. Learn
to say, This is how it must be, without overlaying
it with emotion and drama. Learn to express your own needs in
a direct way.
You are
responsible. And the good news is, there is help all around
you. You are deeply loved and treasured. You are surrounded
by a benevolent universe that means you well. All you need to
do is own your own life, come down into this moment and feel
the power here. Set aside all of the regrets and guilt and anger
from the past. Set aside all of the worries over the future,
the feeling that there is something you are missing. Set aside
that feeling you have that if only things were different you
would finally be happy. Set all of that aside. And then, come
down into now, this moment, this very moment, and see the choices
which lie in front of you. Then take a deep breath, fill yourself
with courage, and act. Do what feels right. Do what will move
you in the direction you wish to go. Do it from the center of
this moment now and all of the power which is yours, the power
to choose, to choose with love, to choose with generosity and
gratitude, yes, but to choose and claim your own life.

10 Feng Shui Tips for Selling Your Home Easily and
for More
By Vicky White
|
|
During the
last 6 weeks, I have completed four feng shui consultations
for people who wanted to sell their homes. Three sold their
homes quickly and for good money, and with the 4th, they fell
in love with their home all over again, and decided the timing
wasnt right to move.
What each
had in common was that they waited until they were selling to
make improvements to their homes. Some of the changes were
removing moss from the deck, removing last years dead
flowers from hanging pots, replacing a broken doorbell, painting
a laundry they had disliked for 7 years. For one, clearing a
large amount of clutter inside the house was all it took to
create a shift in energy and a sale. She didnt get around
to completing my other suggestions.
In feng
shui we work with the energy flow in the home, look at missing
areas and balance elements, but many simple feng shui enhancements
are common sense and make a huge difference to the feeling of
a home. Just as potential buyers pick up on the feeling of a
home, this energy will be affecting you continuously. Why wait
until you are moving to make your home and your life really
work for you?
If you decided
to put your home on the market today, what changes would you
make? (If you are renting imagine you own it.) What would
you do to get the best price, without spending a lot of money?
What would you suddenly find the time to do? What are you tolerating?
Why not do it for yourself arent you worth it?
FENG
SHUI ACTION STEPS
These simple
steps will enable the energy to flow more smoothly in your home,
which will have a powerful impact on your life and prosperity.
They will also help if you are selling!
1. Repair
anything around your home that is broken or not working well.
2. Fix all leaks immediately inside and out. These will
be draining your finances.
3. Remove dead flowers and leaves on pot plants.
4. How does your home feel as you approach it? Do you feel welcomed
home? What is something small you could do that would make a
big difference?
5. Make sure the pathway to your front door is clear of obstacles
such as overgrown plants, boxes or newspapers.
6. Walk around the outside of your home. Is there an area of
clutter anywhere? This will be blocking your energy.
7. Begin clearing clutter from one room and continue around
your house. Clutter is anything unfinished, unused, unresolved,
tolerated, or disorganized.
8. Check all doorways to make sure nothing is blocking them
from opening fully. Doors that stick or dont open fully,
stop the good energy entering.
9. Make sure the street number of your home is clearly visible
from the street. This will help money and opportunities find
you.
10. Clean your house regularly. This will keep the energy fresh.
Pay attention
to how you feel as you complete these items. Feng Shui will
create powerful energy shifts in your environment, which will
result in the changes you want in your life.

Today
I use the power of my mind to choose thoughts that empower
and enlighten. I align myself with higher truth, which
always leads to right action. I accept love in all its
dimensions. I listen to people for their greatness, and
support the divine spark within them. Each moment is a
moment to choose again, to create a new causation.
Spirit is my employer, my source and my guide. It fills
me with creativity, ingenuity and actual bliss. I am rich
beyond belief. My wealth is a reflection of my generosity,
and I share with the same abundance as I receive. I am
as attracted to goodness as it is to me. I open my heart
to receive even my most magnificent dreams.

I spent
much of my childhood and teen years doodling, but was never
very serious about my art. In 1992, at the age of 20, I got
a job working as a custom picture framer at a local gallery,
which I continued to do for more than 7 years. This was the
best step I could have taken towards my eventual career. I was
exposed to a wide range of art in all mediums. Working with
mat boards and frames gave me a good background for color, texture,
and design.
About four
months after I started at the gallery, my boss and now good
friend Shawn, handed me an empty frame that had been lying around
the shop for months and said 'Here, paint something to fit in
this frame
.maybe a little fairy or something.' I had always
had an interest in fairies, ever since my aunt gave me the book
FAERIES by Brian Froud and Alan Lee. However, I never attempted
to draw any. So, I went home that night and painted a faery
hovering next to a clump of pink foxgloves. We put the finished
piece out in the gallery and it sold a few days later
..that
was how it all started.
In 1993
I started testing the market for my work by having laser prints
made. It enabled me to print my images in small, affordable
batches with out going broke from large printing fees. I sold
my prints at a few street fairs and was fortunate enough to
have a couple of friends with shops who were willing to carry
my work. A year or two later my boyfriend, now husband, decided
I should have a website. To my surprise and delight he had a
previously untapped flair for designing websites. My first site
had one gallery with around ten images. Now, in 2003 it has
grown to multiple galleries and over 140 images.

Movie
Alert: Hero
By Stephen Simon
|
|
I saw an
amazing film from China this past weekend entitled HERO.
Sometimes,
not often, a movie affects me deeply simply because of the depth
and passion of the filmmaker's vision, combined with a dazzling
visual sense and a perfectly composed music score. That's what
happened with me and HERO. The film is operatic in its combination
of those elements and I felt completely carried away to the
China of a distant era.
The story
is very powerful and thought-provoking and some of the visuals
just may be the most spectacular that I have ever seen! Truly---the
film is just ravishingly beautiful to experience, the message
about war and its consequences is timeless, and it does speak
to a mind and heartset which we still encounter today. There
are a lot of martial arts in the film (which is rated PG-13
so you know it's not extreme) and, as such, it's not for everyone,
but it is an amazing emotional and visual feast for those who
may be attracted to it.

Monthly
Energy Report
By
Ron & Robert Baker
|
|
In the second
month of this particular segment, we will shift more of our
focus to NEGOTIATION. We will find ourselves weighing the two
sides of things. After having looked at things in the first
month, this month will be a time to negotiate between the old
and new choices. How do I fit the choices of my inner truth
into the form and structure of my outer life? What meaning can
I bring to my life in these new choices?
We will
learn to respond more fully to life, without a sense of giving
up the fragile false sense of self we have known. As we put
our choices into practice, we will learn what works and what
does not any longer. By putting our new choices into motion,
we will create many synchronicities that support our new commitments.
This will refine a trust in a new inner-directed or soul directed
identity and reality.
As we crack
the surface of the subconscious that has held us in the old
reality, this month we will deal more with the practicalities
of negotiating with the new. This will reveal a sense of true
purpose rather naturally. As we act from the neutrality of the
heart connection we are finding, we will find ourselves acting
less through opposition, but rather as a way to come together
in ways that serve the good of the whole.
This requires
that we look at the ways we still act that affirm our old fears.
As we do, we will develop a sense of empowerment within our
choices. This will literally break open the heart chakra
and the symptoms of shifting will move more into the upper body
this month. For instance, there will be a lot of activity in
the back of the heart chakra, as well as many movements of energy
along the spine. This particular movement is freeing up the
energy of our will centers (which are connected along the back
of each of the seven chakras).
There will
be a lot of LETTING GO in this month, particularly until October
22. This is because you are refining yourself as you are prepared
for a higher mission in your world to be revealed at
the vortex opens in this initiation in the final week of October.
This is why we have planned our journey to Egypt at that time.
We hope you will all join in the worldwide meditation in the
first week of November.
You will
find a great deal of dissatisfaction in the world. There will
be accusations, damning this person and that, as well as a lot
of scapegoating. This is because the shift of these
energies will cause the ego to go to any old control dramas
that it can rather than allowing the circumstances to
reveal what is needed.
You will
also find people coming in and out of your life. The reason
is that you are beginning to deliver your message as you move
from the old probationary path (as a disciple) to becoming a
true initiate. This will allow you to become a true teacher.
This will be different for each person, at different levels.
This comes from being truly authentic and heart directed with
no attachments or need to control anyone.
You will
start to tell a difference between connecting through old attachments,
through the drag and pull of control, versus a new and different
way of connecting from your neutral heart. It will be a new
experience for most of us. You are used to the pull of things
whether to have this job or eat something particular
for dinner. This has mostly been based upon the desire to create
a sense of pleasure (based on avoiding pain from the past).
Most people are not aware that the fear of pain has directed
them, because the imprints have been held in the subconscious.
One litmus test involves looking at how attached you are to
a particular choice or how neutral you are about making
a different one.
You will
start to know the absolute difference between desire and attachment,
because they bring a greater sense of isolation, loneliness
and the desire to control thing...versus negotiating your place
in the world with YOU as the source. Rather than being pulled
through yearning, you will experience the value in the neutrality
of your heart and inner void. That emptiness will become the
space to be still and to discover, the space that is pregnant
with possibility.
In short,
you will start to become the true initiate who chooses the place
in the middle consciously. And you will start to know that nothing
is missing when you are truly connected to Self. This will be
a month to explore that inner emptiness and know that Self.
This is the month that you will discover that doorway to the
heart, coming face to face with the truth of your Being. You
will meet the Angel of Presence, which is the energy of your
higher self and soul. This doorway can only be found in neutrality.
This is
the month when these energies will begin. They will be introduced.
And you will be able to begin negotiating with your tools for
inner connection and the expression of that inner self in the
world. This will bring you into a direct awareness of things
as they truly are.
This will
naturally bring you through a time of negotiating the inner
conflict of old versus new. This will be reflected in the world,
such as in your governments. More and more secrets will be revealed
and people will talk about all of the injustices in the world.
You will become aware of the effects of these distortions as
you reach deeper truths within yourselves.

"It
continues to be our goal to reach as many people as possible
with these pieces of healing information. However, we also continue
to be concerned about the need to gather specific tools with
which to respond and integrate these changing energies. We feel
it is vital to be able to put the pieces of the puzzle into
a larger context of healing. That is why we have put together
more specifics of the entire personal and planetary movement,
as well as what we can continue to expect in each step, and
a grounded process of dealing with these changes - in Ron's
book, Revelations
for a Healing World Book One. It
has already proved to help hundreds and hundreds of people all
over the world. We hope that you will consider it as a tool
to nurture and educate those around you at this time."
Ron
Baker is an author, a self-empowerment coach, international
teacher, Reiki Master, counselor and healing practitioner. Before
pursuing a career in the healing arts, he was very successful
as a performing artist - acting in over 60 leading roles in
film and on Broadway and opera stages around the world. His
life is now dedicated to educating and inspiring others to tap
deeper layers of personal potential and self-empowerment.

This is
an area I'd like to offer to our subscribers for distant healing
services. If you have a need for distant healing or prayer and
energy work, or you know of someone who would like some, please
send me an email at dekora@tds.net
with "newsletter healing request" in the subject and
the person's name, location and reason for the need of healing
in the main email. This isn't just for healing, it can be also
a request for extra energy for another reason (ie. please send
energy to help Sandra find a new job), all requests for love
and help will be honoured.
Each month
I will post the new people who need healing in this area of
the newsletter and encourage all members to send distant healing,
prayer and energy to the people in the healing circle.
