October Signs by Robyn Johnston

Dedicated to those following their higher purpose

What’s that your rear view mirror? Yikes it’s the red lights of the spirit police, better find a place to pull over and see what they have to say! Oh! You are being given a citation…….what is this for you ask? The answer………..DUI………Driving Under the Influence! Don’t worry though, unlike “earthly infractions” we’ve lived with this one most of our lives and gotten away with it! The intention of the spirit police is only a warning, a wake up call of sorts to assist you in coming back to conscious awareness. You thank the “officer” and drive off, this time with added clarity and focus.

The following is a dramatization and is intended to parallel the significance of the illusion we find ourselves subjected to each and every day. I don’t mean to downplay the seriousness of Driving Under the Influence. However, Driving Under the Illusion offers serious concerns for those on the spiritual path as well. Let’s take a look and see how this might apply, shall we?

You see, every day that we are on this plane, we become more and more vulnerable to forgetting who we are and why we came here in the first place. Years of emotional, physical, mental and spiritual debris cover the truth of your existence. In truth, we’re all ascended masters, having made the choice to come to this plane for the purpose of learning and spiritual growth. Yet much of the population has forgotten this. Everyday people fall under the illusion that they are simply a woman, man, wife, husband, mother, father, teacher, banker, truck driver, cook, cashier, clerk, manager, doctor, coach, and the list goes on. We are so much more that we realize, but the consequences of Driving Under the Illusion has dimmed our view of the world and its occupants. Many no longer recognize the greatness in each other, let alone recognizing it them themselves. We accept what we see at the physical level; perhaps believing that is all there ! is to see. By doing so, we do a disservice to our spirits and others, denying the very experience we came to this plane to have!

I believed that disillusion also exists in the psyche when it comes to the roles we play. Many people associate their greatness and the greatness of others with accomplishments. Success is directly related to what has been done with one’s life rather than emphasizing what has been learned. It seems that we live in a society that honors and recognizes those that have created wonderful success in their lives. However, our society may fail to recognize a quiet life well lived, or one that doesn’t seem to be too glamorous. When people focus on the outward expressions of life, they might miss the astounding accomplishments of the inner realms. To see within, one must see through the illusion, look under the obvious and find the truth. This would certainly be true for people with addictions, such as food and alcohol. Often people see the outward expr! ession of addictions rather than acknowledging the inner struggles churning under the surface. It feels like many people turn away and want to detach from someone with an addiction or an affliction, when just the opposite needs to take place. Rather than turning away and withdrawing, we need to reach out and reconnect with persons who show such strength.

Strength you say, are you nuts Robyn! (Well, that is not my reality, but I can just imagine how some might react as they read this!) You see the outward reaction is to disregard those with afflictions and addictions as weak, a person of lesser qualities when the opposite is true. Do you know how much wisdom and strength it takes for someone to go through and addiction, learn the lessons and then transcend what has worked so hard to hold them back? These are the very people that deserve encouragement, empathy and respect. I feel that some of the most powerful people are those that have overcome inner obstacles, weather it is related t! o their cell memory, genetics, or misaligned thoughts. These are truly amazing people, when you get past the illusions and see them for who they really are, another divine soul, learning important lessons for spiritual growth! In fact most of us do have some type of addiction, though society tends to label and emphasize certain ones as more serious than others. So, rather than looking down on someone as the illusion of the three dimensional world would have you do, why not looks past, look within and see the illumination of the divine spirit within. Keeping in mind this divine spirit may be your own! It is through the cultivation of compassion that the cloud of illusion is cleared. To see what is real, forget about what you think you know and what you think you see. Things are not what they appear to be. One of my favorite quotes to illustrate this point comes from Marianne Williamson, “Love is the only thing that exists, every thing else is an illusion.”

This type of thinking may not come naturally, again it’s more of a choice. I once taught two brothers who came from a troubled home. From outward appearances, they looked pretty shabby. Although the boys were bright, they continually failed to hand in assignments and fell further and further behind as the year progressed. From the outward appearances, they were horrible students, problem cases that no one really wanted to deal with, including me! As I began to look within and shift my focus, I noticed that they too were under the illusion of lack. They really believed that this was their lot in life and that they weren’t ever going to change. They didn’t care about their grades and they certainly didn’t care about their appearance. I gained awareness when I was guided to visit the home. One of the boys had thrown his weekly grade report in the trash so I thought I would take the opportunity to return it. The visit not only opened my mind but also my heart. I heard yelling from inside and was greeted by such a mess of junk and debris that I could barely find the front door. The inside was total filth and disarray. No wonder they weren’t able to concentrate, I wouldn’t have been able to either in such conditions.

I couldn’t help notice the new baby sister looking at me as mom answered the door, surprised at my visit and really wanting me to leave. I gained many insights from this experience, and later that night I was given further insight about this situation. I had felt sorry for the baby girl that had come to be born to this family, who would ever choose such a mess to be born into? My guides lovingly shared that all beings who incarnate have the choice of who they are born to. It is not a random act, but a carefully chosen plan. These bright beings choose the families who will offer them the most wonderful opportunities for spiritual growth and learning. In the higher realms, everything is seen in a different light. Sometimes that light is! dimmed after spending years on the earth, but always the glow exists. My spirit team shared that feeling sorry for this little girl was not supporting her, instead they inspired me to offer her recognition and compassion for having selected such a challenging environment or what I perceived to be a challenging environment. Another illusion! They also shared that even though we see babies as tiny, dependent little beings, they are actually wise beings choosing to come in for the sake of learning and experiencing. It is a good practice for us to suspend judgment, allowing each person to select his or her own best way to learn whatever lessons they need to in order to grow. When we judge others, we limit the insight that is available. There is so much that we do not yet understand, vast insights beyond the scope of our conscious awareness, lie in store for us. We live with the illusion of time and space, but I am told that will not always be the case. The earth changes are working to! clear the illusions, so as we continue, we will learn and grow even more that what we can now imagine!

The idea of separation is another illusion that plagues many today. Because we have individual bodies, we take on the idea that we are somehow separate from others and of coarse separate from Divine Source. We know deep inside that is certainly an illusion, but do we remember this consciously as we go about our day. When we are stuck behind a slow driver, are we viewing that person as an extension of ourselves? When we see traits in others that we dislike, do we notice that those are the very traits we don’t like about ourselves? In truth we are all one, we are all connected, members of the same body, yet living as branches from the same tree, having unique experiences. We may forget from time to time that the choices we make, directly affect the other branches. This includes the words we use to express our emotions as well as the products we buy and the foods we choose to eat. Our choices to have an impact on others. When we ch! oose to see through the veil of illusion, when we choose to see and act with renewed awareness, we raise our vibrations as well as the vibrations and consciousness of all those living on the planet at this time. What a concept!

Another illusion some are live with is the illusion of lack. I work with many who believe that they do not have enough material wealth to support their dreams. Many feel that they don’t have enough to make ends meet. While this may appear to be true, and the present situation would support this, one can gain deeper insight by looking at the beliefs thoughts, and perceptions within. If you listen carefully to the words people say, you can easily discern the beliefs ingrained within. Such phrases as, “I’m broke” or “I never have enough money” “Money is tight right now”, are outward expressions of the inner beliefs that there is a lack. If this is the thought, then that is certainly what is going to be created. So the illusion exists that if you THINK you are broke, then that is what you are going to see and experience. If you think you are “broke” but would like to have money, then what! you’ll want to focus on is not the money but how it would feel to have the ability and experience to pay all your bills on time, to have the abundance to purchase what you want. By focusing on what you what, you can invite your inner guidance to help you find ways to bring this into physical manifestation. They key is YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT! If you want money, that might be what you get, but what you really want is the experience, isn’t it?

For example, you don’t really want the money you want the new shoes, car, house, etc? So focus on what you want, the experience and the feelings that you would like to have and then allow the higher realms to work through you and assist you in being open to the means that will allow you to have this experience. Getting clear on what you want, will assist them in being able to deliver the experience in a precise and speedy manor. After all, the stack of money will not keep you warm, safe and loved, but it will bring the experience to you right? Why not just take a short cut and ask for the actual experience that you desire. You may notice that the money comes to you in a surprisingly easier manor.

Another way to see past the illusion, is to shift your focus. Do you have a home and a nice warm bed to sleep in? Do you have food, clothes, and transportation? If so, you are actually quite wealthy. Take a look at ALL the possessions around you? How much have you invested in technology, computer, cell phone, stereo, televisions? How many pairs of shoes do you have? How many coats? We surround ourselves with lots of cushion, yet many feel that they “don’t have enough”. Why is this, what is this illusion telling us? Our minds, our egos may be trying to trick us into believing that we need more and more and more, forgetting what we already have.

One of the tenderest issues that come up for clients involves finances. We all want more, but many of us have created blocks or obstacles to attaining the wealth we desire. What many people that I work with don’t realize is that our thoughts around money are not always our own. In many cases our views and value of money was actually inherited from our parents, in turn they inherited it from their parents and their parents before. Many of the views that we hold, the truths and values we call our own, are actually ones we’ve adopted at an early age. The problem then is that many forget these beliefs that are so deeply ingrained within. Often it takes a visit from the “spirit police” to bring these false beliefs to the level of our conscious awareness so that we can recognize and release them. In this way, we rewrite our own programming, freeing us from patterns, blocks and beliefs that are not in our highest good. In truth dear on! es, we can have everything and anything we want. It is a matter of clearing out the debris, releasing those thoughts that prevent us from receiving what it is we desire.

If it is alignment with our spirit and is something that will teach, and assist us and others in spiritual growth, then chances are it will come about when we are ready and the time is right! God and our angels want the best for us; they work continually to help bring about what is most needed. This includes abundance on all levels, the right career, positive and loving relationships, robust health, and joyful experiences. The degree to which we are experiencing what we what can be traced directly to our state of mind, our openness and willingness to receive and the level of consciousness we hold in relation to our thoughts. If you aren’t experiencing bliss, then its time to notice the warning light, pull over and go within to discover what thought you have that is preventing you from receiving what really want.

This example might illustrate the truth behind money. If you take a one dollar bill and a one hundred dollar bill and compare them you’ll find that they are both rectangular, they are similar in color, the are actually made out of paper and they both burn! Really the only difference between the two is that the later has a couple more zeros behind it! We have been conditioned to believe that the more zeros behind the one, the more the paper is worth. If we were to stop looking at it that way right now, the babies coming in would not have such views by the time they were teenagers. We put so much value on a piece of paper that we limit what is real, our experience!

Once we STOP giving money energy and START shifting our focus to the experiences and lessons, then the illusions of lack is lifted. In this way we free ourselves from the poverty prisons of the mind and create a whole new reality, one where we always have everything we want and need.

Sound too good to be true or maybe that I am suggesting that you “have your cake and eat it too”? That is exactly what I am advocating. Where did we ever get the idea that we weren’t supposed to have everything we wanted? You are now responsible for creating your reality. This is a tremendous responsibility, but we know that you can do it. I can give you suggestions and reminders, but deep down inside, you are the one that is really in control of your spirit vehicle. You are the one, after all that holds this license to drive, this privilege to operate your spiritual vehicle!

By the way, no tickets will be issued for acceleration of your spiritual growth, its actually encouraged, so go as fast as you like!

Happy Trails!
