5. The Eighth Army Entertainment Committee Meets once per quarter to make selections for upcoming entertainment. Once a group is selected, it usually takes at least 90 days for contracts to be completed.
6. Due to limitations on transportation, 6-7 member entertainment units are seldom selected. Units with 2-5 members are what is desired. In general we do not bring techies or managers.
7. Touring throughout the military installations in Korea is somewhat different from touring commercially in the U.S.. Here are some facts worth considering for groups that wish to apply.
A. Each tour is usually 85 to 110 performances, with one non-paid day off each week. Contracted bands are expected to play 3 to 4 (3 to 4 sets) hour gigs. Double pay is always scheduled for the 31st of December with January 1st as an off day.
B. The Entertainment Office (EO) will pay all airline transportation including excess baggage for equipment to and from Korea, and for lodging while under performance contract. EO does not pay for meals or furnish local transportation for personal needs such as meal retrevial, and laundry. Local transportation is only furnished from local lodging to and from job site and for other official business such as instrument repair at local facilities.
C. Bands will bring their own equipment, up to 20 pieces of excess baggage. Each piece is limited to a maximum of 70 pounds and 60" in length and in girth combined. Airlines consider a heavier piece or larger item as two pieces. Ban personel will pay for any excess baggage over (20 pieces). THIS IS NOT FLEXABLE AND LIMITS CANNOT BE EXTENDED.
D. Once selected, the band will submit, by fax or E-mail, necessary information an all personel. Information needed includes: Real Name-first, last, & MI ; Social Security Number ; Date Of Birth ; Gender ; Height ; Weight ; Color of eyes and hair ; Place of current residency ; Instrument or function with group.
E. In reguards to lodging, members should expect to double up, so in addition to the above, please indicate room-mate preference and whether their are married couples. Most housing will be in local hotels. Rooms will be smaller than what one is used to in the U.S..
F. Each gig may or may not be booked into a different venue for each performance. 50% to 60% of the tour will be one nighters. Band members are expected to do their own load in's and out's as well as set up's. Assistance may be available but should not be expected.
H. Recent changes require that all payments be made by electronic funds transfer (EFT). EO will assist in setting up an account with the local, on-post credit union when appropriate and desired.
