The UT department of safety police division's investigation into the alleged Dec. 26, 1991, assault of UT graduate student Siddig Fageir by a UT safety officer has been completed.
Frank Pizzulo, UT director of public safety, said in an interview Friday afternoon that Fageir's claims of assault on the part of UT safety officer Martin Przybysz have been dismissed.
"I have recently sent a letter to Mr. Fageir through the certified mail," Pizzulo said. "Basically, it (the letter) indicates that we have investigated his complaint......and made a recommendation that there was no basis for the complaint."
Pizzulo said the decision was reached by a committee that included Thomas Repp, vice president for administrative affairs, and Dr. Dan Abrahamowicz, dean of students.
In a story that ran on the front page of the February 3, issue of The Collegian, Fageir described a brutal kicking and hitting assault by Przybysz, which resulted in Fageir having to be treated for a mild concussion at the Medical College of Ohio hospital.
The incident allegedly occurred while Fageir was being arrested for disorderly conduct in the Driscoll Center for Continuing Education's Balch/Clapp Auditorium. The official police report of the incident stated that Fageir "had to be taken to the ground with the aid of two other officers" because of his resistance.
Repeated attempts by The Collegian to locate Fageir for comment on the issue have failed.
