I thought Mr. Martin's description of Mirabelle's depression was so sad, believable and tragic. Geez, the inability to even move because your brain is so chemically unbalanced.
Even on meds, she has become stuck behind the glove counter, whittling away her life, trivializing her gift of art to everyone including her family. So sad...
Then her life changes with Ray Porter...as their relationship turns more to friendship (even though they are lovers) she becomes bolder and braver. I can never see her talking to her Dad about the buddy from Vietnam before she met Ray.
I was glad to see her at least going to the Dr and making attempts to heal.
Too many people with depression don't have clue one that it is not normal to feel that way and that medications can help the brain balance its chemicals.
