So far, it is pretty good. I think that Mr. Carter has a true Southern wit, being somewhat backhanded in his humor.
All of this mixed in with short slices of his life as a boy, it gives you an idea of how he came to be who he is.
Still, many of his stories of growing up in the Great Depression and how hard it was on people are depressing. But, told from a boy's point of view, it makes it a little more bearable.
I like it and am glad it is rather light reading compared to some we have read.
