At first Geraldine is mostly like JJ's roommates, totally consumed by herself and her looks and the shallow things in life.
As she gets more interested in the funny situation that JJ gets herself into with Brad over the Internet, she begins to see that JJ is a person no matter what she looks like. Soon, she even begins to help her out on how to take care of herself and spoil herself a bit. Think about it, JJ probably had NEVER been to a real salon before to get her hair cut. SHe actually LIKES JJ at that point and is a friend to her.
Maybe that is why Geraldine takes on a bit of JJ when she decides to go for a man who can actually make her happy on the inside (heart) as well as the outside.
They were good for each other. As friends should be.
