Haven't we all thought about having everything we want in life, about giving anything if someone...something....would just make it all perfect for us.

I liked that in the end, Barbara realizes that everything Satan gave her was something she could get for herself (thinner, blonder, more successful in her career) if she really applied herself. I can not telll you how many people I have met who have a plan to succeed but no plan to achieve it. They might say they are going to be a doctor...but don't take school seriously, especially science and math and other doctor-necessary subjects.

I am glad that once the spell was broken that she still had the will to stand up for herself and what is right. Too many women go through life like Barbara was with her husband...meek, worried about pleasing, etc. And also, they try so hard to live up to unrealistic expectations of their parents.

Barbara getting to talk to her dead mother was especially sad for me. I wish so much I could talk to my mom one more time. Not so much to say she treated me wrong, like Barbara did, but to tell her how happy I am now, how great my life is. My mom died when my life was the pits and she knew how unhappy I was...even if I myself could not do anything about it. Thank goodness I had an epiphany (was I possessed by the devil? am I still? if so it was well worth it!) and made changes in my life that got me to where I am today.

I guess I think people are too prone to want to sit on their duffs and wait for others to change things for them, painlessly. As Barbara realizes, the only person who can make you happy is yourself. That God I realized it too!
