I totally agree, staying home with children...or in a school all day with them - trust me - makes you hungry for someone who possesses rational thought outside the id (Freud's id). Linc's problem is that he has not taught Violet that he and mommy need time alone and she needs to leave them alone when mommy gets home. It seems like he has everything planned EXCEPT time for him. Like you have your little people take rests in the afternoon and they adhere to that...you get time for you, even if it is spent doing something for them, they are not under foot and they are learning to obey their mother.
Also, Linc's reactions to the other moms in the neighborhood is as awful as their treatment of him. Frankly I do not see women being that snobbish back, but maybe that is just where I live...people are nice here. He does not make the effort to go and say hello, sit back and gab with them...be puts himself on a pedestal (front cover of book?) above them and better than them....but then obsesses on what they might be saying about him, etc. TO make friends you have to be friendly. Duh!
