I liked how everything in life was accompanied by recipes and thoughts on how the food related. Like the BBQ and how they went back years later to see if the sauce was the same...recipe was on the wall. LOL.
I think all of us associate certain foods with certain times. They become traditions. I think this is one of the reasons that I really like Thanksgiving as much as or even more than Christmas. I love the act of cooking all the dishes...changing them into my own versions...waiting as the turkey cooks, smelling it..anticipating the turkey skin...the food becomes one with the day.
In the book, there were foods that Michael Lee West associated with certain holidays, events, people, periods of her life. I have the wsame thing happen to me.
