JOB DESCRIPTION!!!
My main focus has been the formation of the Church Rock Tourism Action Committee. In efforts to get youth involvement at the Chapter level, I hope to be working with students from the area to help facilitate these meetings and gather data for the feasibility study. Another Committee has formed the Church Rock Partnership Steering Committee to create an alliance between the Univerisity of New Mexico Gallup, the Red Mesa Foundation, Navajo Nation Department of Tourism, and the Church Rock Chapter. We hope to bridge the resources of the group and help to benefit three specific areas: education, environment, and economic development. Once the CRTAC is formed, the community-based group can decide to declare itself as a 501C3, non for profit group. Once the committee is established as a 501C3, it will act as its own fiscal agent to bring in grant money for projects. The feasibility study will entail projects that the community wishes to see brought into the area. Next years VISTA will focus on helping the group establish and retain the projects that evolve around education, environment, and economic development, specifically small-scale community based tourism initiatives.
