Hector has some 30 year old whisky that he and Kilwillie plan to indulge in, but they must keep it from Archie, because they knew he will take it off them and sell it. They hide themselves in an old cellar but Archie finds them and confiscates the whisky.
   Golly and Duncan see that Archie has put an ad in the paper for a new Head Ranger. Golly tries to explain to Duncan how bad this is, as it means they will probably lose their jobs. Duncan takes it all very lightly until Golly blows up at him and storms out.
   Now that Justine is out of the way, are Archie and Katrina free to pursue their relationship? Well, taking the first step Archie asks Katrina to help him with the job interviews. She gladly agrees and invites him to supper to 'talk about it'. 
   Duncan is feeling sorry for himself once again, felling inadequate and uselessm while Lexie tries to cheer him up. She explains that he should show Golly and Archie what he can do and Duncan comes up with the idea of going for the Head Ranger job.
   Archie assures Golly that this other job has nothing to do with him, he will not lose his job, will be his own boss and will report separately back to Archie. But, to Archie's dislike, Golly tells Archie he is going for the Head Ranger job.
   Archie goes over to Katrina's for tea. Her cooking is terrible but Archie is very diplomatic about it. Katrina offers Archie more wine, they nearly share an intimate moment but are stopped when Katrina accidentally starts pouring wine from the open bottle into his lap, causing the moment to pass and Archie to leave. 
   Hector is on his mission to find where Archie hid the whisky. He will not stop at anything to get it. Hilariously in one scene molly comes across him with an axe in his hand, looking through Archie's bedroom door. She says nothing, much to hectors surprise. This second attempt to get the whisky is at night while Archie is sleeping. he sneaks into his bedroom and finds the whisky under the table, but it has a string attached. Following this string it is attached to Archie's arm. This is a hilarious scene which gets me laughing every time. Archie tells Hector that tomorrow he is going to sell the whisky and use the money to help the estate, vowing Hector will not drink a single drop. Next day, Archie locks the barrel away and Hector employs Kilwillie's help to get it back.
   In an adorable scene, Lexie tries to help Duncan get ready for his interview. She strips him down to his boxers and attempts to dress him up, making him look, as Molly puts it, "like a porn star from the 80's" Molly comes to the rescue. 
   Kilwillie's attempt to get the barrel is nearly successful but he loses it down some stairs and can't find it again. Calling Hector they sit in dismay and then suddenly the barrel turns up behind them, rolling from one side of the house to the other. 
   Archie employs a new head ranger : Fergal, who Katrina seems to get on extremely well with. Duncan is employed as his deputy and Golly still has his old job, though he is upset that he loses Duncan as well. 
   Kilwillie buys the whisky off Archie and they share in a drink and find it's gone off. Kilwillie has wasted his money and they end up throwing the whisky into the loch.
