The crimson orb of morning drifted past giant, looming skyscrapers cascading its light into the city. The moon faded away into the indigo sky as, street by street, innumerable street lamps flickered out. As fingers of dawn found their way into pockets of shadow, night's hold upon the city slowly slipped away.
It was morning.
A generic, yellow cab pulled up to a shining office building and a man stepped out. As the cab pulled away from the curb he slid his wallet back into his pocket. He looked up at the building in front of him and caught the sight of a government sign which prominently displayed "Federal Bureau of Investigation." In the mirror polished shine of the ground-level windows, he noticed his reflection. He was young man, still yet to break thirty. His blue-grey eyes surveyed down every inch his grey suit down to his well polished black shoes. He brushed off a stray piece of lint from his arm, straightened his navy-blue tie and the brown fedora that sat atop his head. Satisfied with his adjustments, he checked the window once more, then pulled a silver pocket watch from the front pocket of his suit. With the click of a button the watch face popped open to reveal him the time. As he stood reading the thin, red arms, the sun caught the watch face and flickered into his freshly shaven cheeks. The sunlight danced across the lenses of his glasses and his austere features. Looking back up to the building, he closed his watch and slipped it back into his pocket. Then, with a deep breath, he walked towards the door and headed inside.
A hunter-green sport utility vehicle drove up to the large concrete structure labelled "Parking Complex." It turned into the entrance and stopped at the black and yellow striped gate. A young man leaned his head out the driver's side window and spoke to the attendant in the small booth.
The young man reached into his pocket to pull out two white laminated cards, and showed them to the attendant. The attendant looked at both carefully, but the second especially carefully while looking into the SUV. He then nodded, handed the two cards back to the driver and pressed the large obvious button that opened the gate.
The young driver nodded back and drove into the complex.
